I have a whine (almost sounds like a supercharger) while accelerating on my Mondi 8. I’ve been told that this is from the air pump and is normal. Two questions:

    1) Do the rest of the Mondi 8 guys have the same issue?
    2) If I want to disconnect the air pump, can I just take the drive belt off or is there something else that I need to do like plug the hoses, etc.

    Thanks,
    Doug

    Yep, I had it too.
Not sure. I think just taking the belt off is all.

As long as the check valves are not rusted out, you can remove the belt. Not uncommon for these GM style air pumps to make racket.

Curious. I've just noticed a whine similar to yours following the replacement of my alternator, also on a Mondial 8. I wandered if I'd over tightened the belt or if the water pump is on its way out.
