    Hi,

I have a 348 GTC and I just noticed a noise after switching the car off. It's sort of a whirring noise like an electric motor, similar to the injection system priming itself when switched on. It goes on for minutes at a time after switch off. The sound is coming from the LHS of the engine bay near to the fuel filter, it comes on for 3-4 seconds then switches off for about 30 seconds then it comes on again. Any suggestions?

    Cheers,
    Neil

Lol - yes, like a sad mooing cow. ;) Groaning sound.

Only on the LHS tho.. strange.. wondering if it's a dodgy fuel filter? hmm..

Ahh thanks for that, it didn't sound like a fault per se. Mine actually started after I slammed the passenger door come to think about it (RHD car). Interesting stuff!

Is our fuel tank pressure relief valve (for 348's) on the left hand side near the fuel filter?

I think it's the pressure relief valve. Loosen the gas cap while it does it and see if it stops.

Mine does it too sometimes. Always assumed it was something to do with the evaporation control system as fuel pressure bleeds away - the sound comes from that area.
