Hey Guys, any info / comments on this white 348 from Tatum Auto Group in the Dallas Area ? Any info on the seller ? : http://www.tatumautogroup.com/showroom/1179/show/147437/1990-Ferrari-348--TS Has also been posted on ebay in the past: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-Trucks___Ferrari-348ts-Special-Order-White-20k-in-Services-TX_W0QQitemZ200256690985QQddnZCarsQ20Q26Q20TrucksQQddiZ2282QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item200256690985&_trkparms=39%3A1%7C65%3A7%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245 Have not talked to the dealer at all. Wanted to check here first before wasting any time on a bad dealer or car. The shield comment (as are other comments) on ebay are a joke since they are clearly plastic shields. So asking here first before wasting my time. Kinda like the color combo with the wheels. Oh, anybody have a carfax for this ? Thanks in advance Ulf
Looks like somebody went ape $h1t with a couple of cans of black krylon spray paint on the lower panels. 348's do look good in white.
Cudos to them for posting so many pictures. I hate it when someone tries to sell a car and posts only 2 or 3 pics. It looks like the bottom of the front fascia is cracked pretty bad(in the black painted area).
yeah, saw that too. Unfortunately it seems to be typical in the 348's. Is that spoiler replacable or is it part of the whole front fascia ? I have had it repaired on my previous 348 but don't recall if it can be replaced by itself or not. If I remember right it's fiberglass and can be patched fixed and painted. I also hope that it is not Krylon paint, but armorall. Krylon would suck. Ulf
The front spoiler is part of the bumper and not replaceable. the repair can be handled by any bodyshop with good fiberglass knowledge. It could be Armorall but what kind of ***** puts Armorall down there? Oh yeah a ***** used car dealer that doesn't know how to present a car well. The hair on the back of my neck stands up one this one and I haven't even seen it in person. Just seems like another wholesale special, be careful!
If you're in the market for a 348ts this is a nice car. I looked at this car before I bought mine. I was set on a tb so I passed. I saw the car again last Saturday at a Cars & Coffee event and met the guy who purchased it after I passed. Car looks good you might be able to get a deal. http://www.ferrarichat.com/ferrariads/showproduct.php?product=1871&cat=2
thanks for the tip, but I do have a trade in that needs to be part of the deal as is some financing. A PPI would be performed of course before purchasing. Will ask the dealer about the black paint (krylon, armorall) ? Ulf
Keep us posted and good luck. This could just be the car for you. You'll never know untill you see it. FWIW even if it is Krylon it's no big deal to have it all repainted (the black that is) when you have the bumper repaired. Again, good luck it is definately a hot looking ts.
Having owned a '94 Spider and now a '93 SS, the later cars are much better sorted out. Better parts, better gears, better exhaust, 2.7 Motronic and God knows what little changes Ferrari implemented off the radar through the model line. Battery relocated to front of car for example.
I did drive it twice before I bought my second F car a 95 348 Spyder, I actual flew down to Texas twice from MN to drive it. Here is my take, the bullet electrical connector needs to be replaced, the seat belts, non-retractable style are shot not the motorized part but the actual belts, the front spoiler is painted after a rock chip hail storm. Strong clutch converted to single disk, all records but due a belt change as it was done in 2005. The "trunk" would not open the lever is broken so don't know if they have the tool kit, they didn't even know they came with one! The leather around the rear window is falling down, overall needs a good cleaning and TLC. They had it for a while about 60 days. I also found when looking for the records that they bought the car from the past owner for 36K, the paperwork was in the owners manual. It is a good 39K car but that is it, nice driver with nice wheels but needs work. If they don't move from 44K it will be for sale for a while. You can find better if tehy don't move off the number, I found a Spyder 5 years newer with records for less money with lower miles. Keep looking that's half the fun!!!!
Almost forgot have Kathy (Tatum Auto Group, her number is 940-595-163) fax you a carfax on it she has it. I don't recall but think there was about 4-5 owners, I looked at so many that I think I have the number right. The service was done and the car was in GA. The service all in with the dual to single clutch about 18K so the owner did take some care of the car but it seemed to stop in the engine compartment. The seats are very nice but how can you not reglue the leather back to the targa area? The windows also we OK speed wise.
Thanks for the input. Great info. I was sure it had a belt service done if the previous owner spent 20K on it. But if that is not the case, and has all the flaws you mention I will move on and look elsewhere. With all you described it might not even be worth $39K. There are plenty of cars out there. Ulf
