I'm looking at a 89 white/blk TR 17,000 miles. that's on consignment in my town, but I'm not having any luck getting a history on the car. Since it's on consign the dearler wont let me contact the seller or vise-versa, because he's afraid he'll not get a cut. It's a rare color combo, white/blk with 512 speedline wheels. It's supposedly owned by a Doc. who has bought a new F-car. It's in Alabama, but has a GA Title. Talked to sales guy again, he said "they have no service papers" DING DING RED FLAG !!!!!!!!!! He also said he could NOT find out anything on the belts. RED FLAG TWO !!!!! (who owns a TR and "doesn't know" the history of the belts ?????????????? I told him to ask the owner how long he has owned the car and where if anywhere it has been serviced, he's getting me the VIN as we speak so I can carfax and call FoA and see if they know the car. I'm figuring the poss scenarios. 1. It's a one owner car, and he didn't have it serviced and drove it the 1,000 miles/yr and got lucky nothing broke on it ? 2. He has done the minor service but hasn't done belts and things yet ? 3. He's not the orginal owner and thought he could flip a bad car ? 4. He's legit and has more dollars than sense ? Does anyone know this car ?? or ever remember a white/blk TR around the SE ? I just found out, serial # 080877 AH HA ! Current owner has only had it 3-4 months. This is getting FISHY !!!!! You can only imagine my suprise at seeing a TR for sale on a used Isuzu lot, hehehe.
Update............ FoA, couldn't dig up anything on the car, It's never been in there anyway, But it did show having the seatbelt recall done in Dec 03 but not by a ferrari authr, dealer.
Just figure it's run the milage without any service, and go from there! Strange the coupon book would be missing entirely though, not a good sign.
What, you don't think a growing young family traded it in, for a new "Trooper" or something??? LOL The Owner of the dealership probably drove it on paper tags for five years and got tired of it.........
There a white on Tan 91 TR here in Toronto at the dealer FoO one owner and all books and records, 6,000 miles. Priced pretty good if you must have the white TR.Saw it a week ago, stunning car.
a 91 is probably more than my budget, plus, don't know about importing from CND, I'm really looking for a 308QV/328 but this car showed up my my hometown. But thanks !
Well obviously, if the owner doesn't know when the belts were changed... or if the car was serviced for last and where/who/why the service was done. The owner should care less about what he/she sells the thing for. And rarely drives the thing as well. He/she won't miss it much. Garage queen also---17K miles. Sounds like the guy made love to the car instead of driving it.
Something is not right!!!!!!!! Why would a non-Ferrari dealer do a Ferrari belt recall?...........somebody must by paying him! I just had mine done by a Ferrari dealer, on my 88 TR, and it cost me "nothing". How can a non-Ferrari dealer even get the recall parts??????????????
Mr. Steward at FoA said it could possibly have been classic coach in NJ but he couldn't tell from the puter. think I'll drive it, then maybe a PPI and then offer 30k. ;-)
