Not sure if it's a repost. Have recently come across a collection of white Ferrari's which belong/belonged to Chris Evans ( UK DJ who made the headlines buyng the famous California at Marranello)who is selling off a few cars from his famous White collection. White F40 1991 White 288 GTO 1985 White 246 rhd 1972 White 275 lwb 1962 Not sure what the cars look like in person but from pictures I have seen the White seemsto bright and modern for the classic looks and lines of older cars. In the UK there has been an explosion of White cars from vauxhall corsas to bentleys and the cover of every glossy magazine especially here in UK as the last few years the police have been using silver cars and White cars where always associated with ex polce cars.
I guess the Sunday Times article a few months back where he said he had no investments just the cars, his house and his current account etc.....and suggested the money had run dry was rubbish if he has £12m for a 250TR lying around. His salary at the BBC wouldn't cover his running costs on that colection...
He's also selling a couple of the cars at RM's auction in Monaco which has led some to wonder if he bought the 250GTO they had earlier this year
http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/tv_and_radio/article6971662.ece?token=null&offset=12&page=2 Last three paragraphs don't sound like a man with money to buy a 250GTO or a 250TR......
He may be lying that he hasn't got any money in the bank. He has done some very good business in the past. Maybe if he is telling the truth, that all his money is in his cars and property...so what? There's not a minimum amount of money needed in bank after you've bought your 250...
Apparently, he spent $150k 'restoring' the 288 GTO to that comedy white color! Now someone is going to have to spend a large chunk of that again to restore the car back to its original livery...
He mentioed the white cars in his apearance on Top Gear. If I remember correcty it was give the cars a art gallery appearance when displayed together at his home.
Ah, ok. That makes more sense. I can understand that top DJs like Oakenfold make a decent sum, but that seemed a bit outrageous. CW
What is the car you're talking about? I know of just one 250 Testa Rossa that was sold for that sum, last year at the auction held in Maranello.
Fixed http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Evans_(presenter) simonw - His reasonable priced drive had most entertaining commentary, didn't it?
I had originally heard he was going to paint the Black 250 Spyder he bought at auction a year ago for almost 11mil USD as well. Looks like he's running a bit different with his life now. Is the 288GTO really a re-spray? What color was it before? It's got a blue interior which screams white exterior not unlike most Dino's in the same exterior color. Anyone have for sure knowledge of this?
