Dear Lamborghinisti, I was thinking the same thing...FREEZE....MIAMI VICE !! ...amazing how damn BIG the SV is compared to the TR. Shamile Freeze....Miami Vice !
I googled lambo bellvue and found some interesting comments on their biz practices What are they asking on this car? I know they are taking off msrp on brand new ones so they can't be asking more than $399k for this one unless they still have some blow stashed somewhere.
No but don't you think this is ridiculous? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/LP-670-4-SuperVeloce-299-miles-Available-Now-/160451960835?cmd=ViewItem&pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item255baea003 $419k-$439k would be respectful imo. Is there this much mark up in a brand new car?
I would not count on that.. First off the "New" car wont even be available for the USA market till at least July/August 2011, so you have another WHOLE year prior to even being able to buy one...and with the projected price creeping right at $500K...well these fantastic SV cars will seem like a bargin. We also do not know yet the final product..an unknow at this time..only thing that seems to have been confirmed is it will be a bit lighter, 8 inches shorter, a little narrower and approaching 700 HP for a sub 3 second 0-60. Well the SV is already 670HP and does 0-60 in 2.8 seconds AND you know what you are getting instead of having to sit on the sidelines for another year or so.
Keep in mind..auction cost, then transport cross country, then flooring cost to hold the car instead of it selling right off.. I would venture to guess, as I have the same costs with my cars... That JUST landed at the Dealership they are in this car over $410K now. Then add intrest flooring cost of approx $36.00 per hundred thousand EVERY DAY..adds up fast.. Then you have to pay your rent, lights, taxes, employees..well you can see were this percieved 100K mark-up is eaten away pretty darn fast.
Thank you Roy, I always appreciate your thoughtful perspective. What would you consider a fair sales price were this beautiful SV sitting on your sales floor?
Well, that is hard becuase every business owner has their own ways to produce profits for them, which is needed to survive. I would look at this car as being a bit differnt then say a standard used 2010 Lp640 car. On the plus side, it is rare and of, IMO a good color and has the right options. If a person is wishing this car and color, well there just is not others to choose from or available on the current market. It is however a used car and 1 year of warranty has already passed, leaving only 2 years un-limited mile warranty remaining. Considering the NEW MSRP of this car was in the $484K Plus range, we have to back up from there. Also take into consideration a like vehicle, in another color, used as well, with a few more miles...1500 and approx the same options and amount of warranty remains is being offered for $420K we need to move forward from that point. So we are between 420 and 484 as our start and stop points. Now consider there are NEW, a very very few of these cars remaining that can be had at the MSRP price..so we know that our stop point, 484K has to back down from their. Lets just start at a half way point..giving us a base median price of 452K Regardless of selling cars, houses or shoes..a pct profit is needed to maintain the "doors open" in any business. In all my years, the lowest I see is the restaurant business..normaly long hours, hard work and less than 5% profit/net margins. MOST business that I do and see needs to be in the 7-10% range of profit/net to sustain a forward moving business. So, in my theory, using the high side of 10% net..the car should be asking in the 452K area..and if needed can slide back the 3% wiggle room from 7 to 10% net figure. For me a little different as I dont have a large monthly fee for both a "Franchise" store nor a brick and mortor location. I can in turn use those savings to increase my net share, which in turns reduces my sale prices and offers on cars I market. But I dont own this car, or have control over it so my business plan for this car would not work. I also think that these cars, the SV are just a fantastic machine. I have 7600 plus miles on mine..would I sell it for considerably less than the MSRP...nope...why, becuase there is nothing out there currently that gives me more joy then my SV..nor anything I can find to replace it when it is gone. The future, who knows, the new "Flagship" car in 2011 may be great and I cant wait to plunk down money to get it. If it is that great, yes, the SV..will take a hit in re-sale value..HOWEVER that is at least 12-16 months away and I for one dont want to waste my life..."waiting for the next best thing" I want to enjoy every day I am blessed to have on this earth. On the other hand the "new" car could be a "flop" OR just to exspensive to trade an already fabouls car for just a "little" better car. I think the $450-$460K range is very fair for this car..IMO..and I think if you operated it for just a few miles, you would more than agree as well. Happy for anyone intrested to come take mine for a test drive..or assit you in aquiring this car as well. It is here in Seattle in my backyard. I did view it in person a few days ago and it is in excellent condition..as if it did just come of the factory floor. Roy Cats
$449k asking price would'nt have been a bad starting point. But asking full msrp on a used ar is absurd, sheds a light on the dealership like they are out to take a fools money. Roy- I googled and found a post from you on why you would never buy from them, didnt read the whole thread but I am sure you worked out your diffences by now.
Your price of 452K still represents 93% of the original MSRP. Year old Lamborghinis just do not retain value like that. At this point, neither do year old Ferraris. I would guess that new LP 670s can be had for around the price you quote as fair for this year old example. Perhaps I am wrong. Still, sales of new Lamborghinis in this country are extraordinarily low. A fair price has nothing whatsoever to do with what the dealer has in the car. If the dealer paid too much for the car so that they cannot sell it profitably, that is their mistake. A fair price is what the market will bear. Obviously, Lambo Bellevue has a better grasp of what they will be able to get for this car then I ever will; I hope they get every penny they ask. But their cost structure does not determine the market.
Dealers are offering brand new SV's for at least $25k off from what I have been told. One guy said he was offered a brand new Blue Fontus SV that is still sitting at the factory for $20k off.
I agree with you..hence my statement of IMO..BUT I dont think this is a "Regular" Lamborghini..IMO the things that are driving the price on this car and holding.. are the fact of its rare small number in production USA numbers, stonishing performance numbers...and IMO must of all..NO car available till next summer at the earliest. I dont think ANY new car increases in value from its birth in todays world.
