I bought my first one last week 2017 488 Spider, and i am pretty excited Been an owner of AMG GT S back in 2016 sold it, got a 2019 amg gt c back in 2020 and i still have it .. I had other sport cars, but I have never owned a Ferrari. I drove a Ferrari only once (458) for about 10 minutes and that was about 4 years ago.
I was fortunate enough to purchase my Ferrari 348 at 25 years old. I could have purchased it at 24 years old, but insurance was crazy, so I waited until I was 25. That was 20 years ago this August, time flies when you're having fun.
I had a 328 when I was 30. "Had", as in, yeah right: Every boy has marbles at home ;-) I traded in a BMW 635M plus cash. Say total value DM 30.000 (1994). Now I cannot even afford a door of a Ferrari!
I worked on my first Ferrari when I was 18 - restoring a Dino engine under supervision of the shop owner who was an instrument maker by trade. Learnt a lot. I didn’t know a lot about engines at the time, but he told me I’d know enough after taking the engine apart and putting it back together again.
When we lived in Tenafly, NJ i came home to a Ferrari in the driveway one afternoon...some kid chasing my oldest daughter... When he left, I said "wow. Nice of his dad to let him use the car"... daughter replied "No, it's his"... They lived in Alpine, NJ...Dad invented the pop-top. Kid wrecked the F car shortly after...dad bought him a Porsche. Safer. 4wd.
Here kids can get their drivers licence at 16 but have to put a magnetic ‘N’ on the back of their car for I think the first year which restricts them in many ways including stiffer penalties. I see these Ns on a lot of performance cars. My firemen buddies have a lot to say about this as they are the ones that have to cut them out of their cars etc.
I bought my 360 at 24. A 2000 euro 6 speed coupe with 20k miles. Good car. Even had snow tires on a set of Challenge wheels--oddly enough, it was the best snow car I've ever had. Never got stuck once.
Got my 1st when I was a professional tennis player at 22. The next came at 29. I'm 67 now and have never been without having at least 1 exotic in the garage since.
