I am looking at an F-car in the bay area and need recommendations for PPI. Ferrari of San Francisco is not interested due to being sued over the last one they preformed. I agreed to sign a waiver with them, but they still are uninterested in taking my money. Since I live in Arizona, I would appreciate any of you northern California F-chatters steering me towards someone competent and knowledgeable on the 355. Thanks!

There are a few choices. What part of the Bay Area is the car in?

Of the places that are equipped and knowledgeable on the car as well as willing to do PPI's that would put it about equidistant from Mark Spencer at 408-369-9792, Silicon Valley Auto Group at 408-377-7200, or if it at Cammisas, or Brandon Lawerence's both of them live near my shop and might be convinced to drop it off here.

I did not know until recently how few places still do PPI's but I understand why.

    Where's Diamond Head
Dayal (pronounced Dale) at Prancing Horse of California (the shop is in Burlingame) may do it. You'll have to call him to inquire at 650-558-8585.

If you are inquiring about the yellow 99' Fiorano 6spd at Cammisa,it's an awesome car.Larry Cammisa, owner,is very anal about the cars he sells and is very knowlegeable on Ferrari's.Bought a 348 there in 1999,a friend of mine bought a 348 from Cammisa in 2001.Great cars, fair price.I have seen the 99 Fiorano several times.Great shape and a very rare 6spd.I would consider it but already have a F355 Spider. For PPI try Prancing Horse, owned by Dayal Dindral, one of the best.(650)558-8585.

I purchased my 330 2+2 fron an individual in the Bay Area, and had it sent by transport to Texas.

In regard to PPI in Bay Area:

I talked to Patrick Ottis, of Patrick Ottis Co., well known vintage Ferrari restorer and expert -- very friendly and willing to help.

Johannes Huwyler, owner of Dino Motors in San Mateo did my PPI as well as some work I wanted done before shipping the car to Dallas. He's not "famous" in the Ferrari world like Patrick but is a first-rate ex-Factory Ferrari man, very nice person as well.

I realize that you are looking at a newer car and these guys are more vintage-oriented but but either or both of them could probably point you in the right direction.

Cal - have you seen the car? I looked at it, it's been on sale for 3 years w/o a taker.

Thanks for everyones recommendations. Sounds like Prancing Horse would be the best bet for the PPi.

Dan, since you have seen the car, In your opinion, why other than its over priced, has it been sitting there so long? They don't seem to be in any hurry to sell it either.
I thought maybe they were running a museum!

Mike - I never got far enough to consider a PPI on it, but it looked like it was ... "enjoyed." Now, given the rarity of stick fioranos... if yellow is your thing, and the car checks out, good times. I want Tim Ng's fiorano but he won't sell.

What do mean by "enjoyed"? Well worn for its low miles? Abused?
What was the asking price three years ago?

BTW, regardless of who actually has the car, Brandon probably knows about. He seems to have a far-reaching history on many cars.
