Looking for guys that do high-end installations on exotics for a living.

Yup, know Gus / Technik 1. Have also reached out to the guys at Sound Concepts in Ramsey, NJ.

    Anybody else?

    Thanks in advance.

Audio Intellect in Tuckahoe, NY is the authority on high end anything having to do with aftermarket installation.

Matt is an amazing talent and Gus and anyone else in the business will also tell you the same.

How far you willing to go?

No one I know is better at it than Gary Goodman, who did most of the installs for Algar Ferrari before factory radios becme the norm (he was VERY YOUNG at the time), and is still in the business doing excellent and careful work.

He's in Suburban Philadelphia, absolutely worth a phone call. Tell him I sent you. (Been using him since he put the radio in my '75 240Z.)

my friend uses Mobile Innovations for all of his audio stuff. They did work on his navigator, e55 (as shown on the website), 575 (shown on website), f150, cl500, 355 spider etc.

From what I observed the work is TOP quality, their work looks factory. The staff over there is very knowledgeable and are really friendly people. They wont talk down to you or anything like that. I went there a few times with him and they will take the time and talk to you, show you around, and explain various options. I believe one of the owners name is Nick.

If you do end up going there, you can tell them Kashif sent you, they'll definately know who he is and will take care of you.

Guys - appreciate the speedy responses. Will give both providers a ring and will mention your respective names.

Dave, from time to time, I love a good track as much as I like to hear that V10 singing behind me so am going to hunt around something that gives me quality sound. Also pissed that '05 G's don't have an AUX input that will let me hard-wire my iPod to it.

Don't plan on breaking into my 401K to pay for the package, but am keen to get a high-quality system. Don't know the step-up in prices as you move down the cost / quality spectrum so hard for me to say where I want to come out in total cost, but I'll pay what I have to to get the sound quality that I desire.

Not inclined to go with the whole DVD/NAV/Sat Radio/iPod package system since all I really want is the sound. Was also at my dealer recently and they had a car up whose electronics were all jumbled because of a fancy-schmancy audio package installation by a supposedly reputable installer. The car's been there for three months. :( Start playing with too many wires and I'm worried things can go wrong. These cars still have some of that Italian temperament me thinks.

I would also like to keep the faceplate stock if I could. Not a big fan of cutting into the center console.

This is all a moving target. Just letting you know what my initial inclinations are right now since you asked. I'm going to start my research, and will let you know how things develop.

    Best.

I paid $7k+ for the system in my 355, and I'm sure that Gus could have done a better job after seeing some of the installs he's done on other cars. If I'd do it again, I'd go to Gus.

I may still go to Gus for an upgrade, bc my system isn't as good as I'd like.

$7k+ for car audio and its not as good as you'd like? What exactly diid you have put in?

A car is probably one of the worst environments imaginable for true audiophile quality and so IMO has a low ceiling for maximum sound possible. I would have a pretty low threshold of wallet pain before diminishing returns sets in. Maybe that's just me, old school in my expectations about what I would ever hope to achieve from car audio.

    Vik,

You can also try Reus Systems. They had a display in conjunction with Matt @ Detailing Dynamics at the car show. Now...i'm not an audiophile, but the sound coming from the GT2 last year and the SL55 this year was superb. Extremely crisp. Also, the good part is is that they use all the factory components (ie. speakers, headunit) and I believe they only added an amp for the sub. Don't quote me on it, but I know they definitely mostly use the existing components.

    Good luck.

I second Arrwin's suggestion here. I met with them at the NYAS and was incredibly impressed with their work and ability to keep the car stock in appearance.

They make their own speakers and components so it is truly a "custom" job to the highest detail.

Give Matt a shout and he will point you in their direction...

I would also reach out to Matt at Ai as a comparison.

I've used gary goodman, I've used matt at ai, gus I know also. All good.
But I agree with the Ashman on this- car environment is a cesspool of noise, bad acoustics and no room for proper setup. It's a huge compromise. So, you can get sound you like, and that will be impressive, but the standards are really, really different than perfectionist audio in a truly controlled environment. (The one benefit of car hi-fi is battery power- no AC power noise and variations to contend with).

I would suggest REUS to anyone here. My M5 was at the NYAS with Rick and MAtt this year. Great guys and the system sounds great. I believe someone in NYC has a REUS system in their Gallardo you should call Rick and try to set up a meeting to hear it.

    Congrats on a beautiful job...

Audio Designs on 25th & 10th Ave do great work on a lot of high end cars, and still will hook up a regular car as well. I found them originally because I did a search for authorized Alpine F#1, Dynaudio, MB Quart dealer in the NYC tristate, and think they were the only ones that came up close by.

I can attest to their work not only from what I've seen on other cars, but the great fiberglass work they did for my custom door panels. Everything else is cake by comparison. :)

Talk to Stef there....great guy with a few celebrity clients as well. Tell him Fellippe sent ya.

Gino's Autosound...they work with the Edison Ferrari/ Maserati dealership and do custom work at the dealership for customers before they even pick up their cars....very stealth and clean. I am good friends with one of their best installers and shot his 10-sec Supra.
