I agree that he has talent and I like LH. Let me put it this way if LH traded rides with Button for example we would not be talking about him. Button would be doing as well as LH in this equipment.

I don't think that'd be the case otherwise Button would have at some point in his career inherently been in the coveted position LH is in now. A car is one piece of the puzzle and a driver has to maximize. I just don't believe that's the case with Button.

I agree, but talent isn't the only deciding factor in getting a seat in F1, or a top seat for that matter. Politics, money and experience are huge factors. If it was only talent alone, then guys like: Sato, Albers, Ralf, and Fisi wouldn't have a seat. Also, there are only like 4 top seats available. You have to pick and choose through a large group of talented drivers that range from karting stars, F3 and GP2 drivers and current F1 drivers to fill those 4 seats. So talented drivers never get the chances they deserve and some of them only get mediocre seats.

Substitute FM for LH in the above quote and you would be correct.

I too have been a Button fan since I first started following F1 in the '07 season. Always seemed like he was a great driver (and cool guy) with a poor car underneath him.

2 years ago? I think Button drove brilliantly back in 2004. It was pretty clear from that on, he performed badly because of a ****ty car. Don't forget the 2nd half of 2006 as well. I remember Andreas predicting that his HUngary win would be his only one in his career ;)

I felt Button always had skill, was trapped in a bad to mediocre car. Yet either the car was really really bad, or Button is not on the level of a Schumacher, a driver that could take a mediocre car to impressive finishes.

Button deserves the rewards he is receiving this season, and will make an honorable champion.

Until this year, Button has been mainly a midfield runner. I think it's more the car than him as to why he is winning

I did not think of Button as a contender. Smooth but not a major talent. Was I wrong? Not sure but Webber recently said alot has to do with Jenson in a good car this year. Thats from a driver so the car does make a MAJOR difference. I do believe you need a talented driver to MAXIMIZE what the GOOD car can do. Thats Jenson this year>>>>>> A driver making the most of the opportunity the good car is bringing to him.
