Oh, thanks. Feel free to use it. I bet there are a lot of folks who feel this way. :)

Seriously I always think it would be a bloody shame if I'd actually discover one day, that I'm a hugely talented racer. Imagine, all these years I wasted going after the wrong profession...Luckily there is little chance of that ever happening. :)

Not yet. Holding off for several reasons:

    a) can't find one
    b) waiting for a force feedback steering wheel/pedal combo (I only play racing games)
    c) never buy the first version of a Microsoft (or Ferrari) product
    :)

I heard Microsoft pays $ 500 for the box that sells for $ 399. So they do what Kodak or Polaroid used to do with their cameras making the money on the film. So for Microsoft I'm a bad customer as I'll get the box only to play a couple of games (PGR3 and Forza2).

Reason C is quite funny, and true. I could not hold out though and was offered the oppurtunity to purchase one on launch for msrp and took it. However from my prior experiences with everything microsoft i know to pay for teh 2 year warranty.

The system seems to have bugs (not unexpected with the rush to production) and I bet at some point XBox Live user will have to download the latest patch. Since I'm on dial-up I don't have XBox live and couldn't do that. So I'll have to wait for the platform to stabilize.

Ah, shucks. That's sweet. I'm just an old stubborn fool. My building has it, so far I simply had no need. I'll have to get over that eventually.

How about you get high-speed, and I will give you my "Free Two months" of Live to check it out. I guarantee you will love it. There is nothing cooler than racing at Road America on "Live" on Forza and hearing French, German, Canadian, etc accents on guys on the other end. Really is pretty cool.

    Andreas,
Bill speaks the truth...High speed connection with Xbox Live is the way to go.
How do we get Andreas to convert? Once he gets going Live he will be talking trash to those young punks in no time!

    Thanks.

I guess there is something I don't quite understand: You mention talking. Does that mean that over the internet connection you not only connect to the game but somehow to a telephone like connection where you can talk to the other players? That could be fun. I suppose I'd need some additional equipment, my XBox has nothing to talk into I believe.

If you don't know, wow, you have much to learn... one of the deciding factors in my decision to go with Xbox Live is that... be prepared... it offered a better voice connection to some friends in Florida than my cell or land line.

Most Live games you can communicate, (like on a phone) with the others via a head set that plugs into the controller. Its a mad mad world we live in when kids have better technology then what is used in the Space Shuttle.

Additional equipment, apart from a sub to Live, is forking over a whopping 35 bucks for the headset. There are other routes, a $60 Halo one, a cordless Logitech for $70 like I have... but in the end all you really need is the Microsoft brand. Don't like the headset? As long as you have the hub for the controller a friend of mine says a few cell phone equivalents work just as well.

I'm familiar with VOIP and I heard of PC military games where players form platoons etc. I didn't know that XBox live supports that and that a racing game would even use it. Sounds a bit strange that Schumacher tells JPM to stuff it, but hey.

Yeah, good ol' Shuttle, using computer technology from the seventies. Did you know, that NASA and Ferrari have one thing in common (seriously, this is no joke): They both are big collectors of old computer hardware. NASA to keep its systems going and Ferrari to have laptops that are capable of running the engine management systems of their older (eighties, nineties) F1 cars.

I can relate to that: Some of the sims I play require MS-DOS. You remember DOS, don't you? :)

What are the rules again on using Forza cars in an online game?

I have several cars in my collection where I cheated in getting them. Actually on second thought I'm not sure anymore, maybe I'm mixing up Forza with PGR2.

Still waiting for my 360 to come in but I am all in favor for doing something online with fellow F-chatters.

I'm sure we can work something out and have some fun with it. Now that winter is here we are going to locked inside so firing up the old Xbox would be fun.

We should pair up on PGR2 and play some "cat and mouse"...That is a good time.
They should add that as a game type to play on the new PGR3. It was a big hit on Xbox Live.
    Thanks.

    Andreas,

Forza is a game that you could have gotten "cheat" cars on.

In the game, you/we could pick whichever cars we wanted to race. Basically, we could go set up a race and then ALL pick basic cars out of whichever class we wanted to race in. That way keeps it fair for all.

There's no H2 or Durango. Can I drive cars I used to own or do some sort of spin off? I had a ML320 and 420S Benz, that might get me into CL65 territory. For all the 3x8 crowds, I think they could handle the big bad jock bro of piloting the 288 GTO. Personally I think you should stick to Dinos. Besides, if the game is on full simulation no matter if Vince and I blow away into the lead, if we forget that our cars can't bounce off walls the turtles will have no problems beating the ego loaded rabbits.

Personally I think its hilarious racing on the oval speedway in the Bentleys and Audis and having the block you made spin your pursuing friends spin off into the wall and leaving their cars pulling and their top end drastically reduced.

Bill, any thoughts on going to a classic Porsche like you used to own via VR by racing it in Forza?

    RocketBoy

PS: Race stock, leave the supercharged cars with aero kits and fun stickers and neon paint jobs to the mean and arrogant 14 year old brats that make Andreas' faith in his "champion driver" status a little bit second guessed.

I have every Ferrari in Forza twice: Stock and modified to the limit. To visually differentiate I gave the mod version some bling wheels. :)

Except for the SP333, which I still haven't managed to unlock. And never will.

What is VR??? And actually, I really like that 1987 930 you can get in the game. Although they don't do it justice. Those cars are superior track cars.

I agree. I think we would pick stock cars in whichever class we felt like racing in.

I haven't raced the Dino in that game yet. Was glad to see it there along with the 288. Nice choice. Although, they really SHOULD have had a 308. Such a classic car!!

I don't get it. Apart from the 360 the 308 is the most produced Ferrari yet I have to find a game that has it.
