If the vintage cars are being driven and getting seen then what does it matter? In my case this year the owner was able to display two cars in Monterey instead of one! Many vintage race cars are driven at the track by someone other than the owner. Sometimes that's a very good idea too! Much ado about nothing.
For me the silverware for "The Drive of the Year" has to go to Max Werner in his Alfa Romeo Monza 2.3. He drove from Duesseldorf, Germany to Goodwood, won the race in spectacular manner, picked up the laurels - and drove back home in this fantastic car! G ph.: the www (what a lovely shot!) I had much fun with my Kyalami this season and had approx. 1,700 miles in it. We should not make such a drama here but I have to agree with Walter. Marc currently has no Maserati and so did not drive a single mile in his own car. But that's the point here.
You certainly got me beat: 3 kilometers from the trainstation to my house. I will, however, finally get my overhauled hydraulics back this week, and the year is not over yet...
This is how this car should be used. 5 people, lots of luggage and a long journey... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
+1 and you are a a very kind - and brave - man, allowing ice creams in your car !! ... I don't in mine...
I drove 956 miles in AM101.708 in the NW Classic Rally this summer with no problems at all. The car preformed flawlessly. FastFreddie, I would really enjoy seeing some additional photos of the interior of your Quattroporte 107 and congratulations for your outstanding enthusiasm when it comes to driving your classic Maserati. It is guys like you who set the example for for the non drivers to aspire to. So come guys get out there and drive the cars! The child seat is awesome, matching nicely with the trident at the top! Good for you man, using the car as it should be used!
Thank you for your kind words. There are several photos of my car in this old thread. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=366581
The seat is actually original Maserati. It can be ordered with everything else you need and don't need at www.maseratistore.com It is actually quite popular with the youngest one. Since she is seated quite high, she sees a lot more than in a regular car so she love to take a ride in the Maserati
I know it is original, but never seen it on a classic car, only on newer QP/GT's. How did you manage to strap it to the seat?
They're held in place by the car's regular seatbelts. I'm assuming the QP1 has seatbelts? I have the same seats in my car, but the booster seat version, without the head/neck support. The MasertiStore has these items on sale once or twice a year, for next to nothing. I think the freight charges cost more than the 2 seats I bought. They're all EU/Safety tested/approved (obviously).
Time to pick up this thread from last year. This year I only managed 4500km since my car didn't get out of the workshop until mid june after being rear-ended the summer Before. Anyone beats me?
Fredric, I'm close, somewhere around 4200km I would guess, down to Wales and back. Quite a ride! But I think you have me beat. Nice work
I don't know if it is allowed to accumulate km if you have more than one car? Then i can put 400 more km to my credit since I just bought a khamsin. It has some things that need attention, hence no long journeys yet. It only has 27000 km on the clock since new but that will soon change!
If you lead you win- period. Waiting impatientily for AMK to "delouse" my Sebring for the 2014 season. I like driving my old cars a lot too. See you soon/Jan
Big year for may Khamsin 3500ks but I have to admit 2000 was inside a transporter to Melbourne return .... does that count! Graeme
