My driver's side seat looks HORRIBLE. Cracked, worn, and seams are splitting. I am having some bits fixed on my car this season, and contemplating having the seats fixed. How much should I be budgeting for this project? I haven't gone out for quotes yet; but I'd like to get a base line. Also, how close of a match were you able to get (texture and color) Thx! john
Just had mine done by a respected shop here in the SoCal area but there is a thread in here where Braden appears to have done some very nice work a little closer to you. As you can see, I had mine done in the Daytona style. I know Braden does the same thing. Not hard to match the leather from any reputable shop. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I paid 3k for mine. I took my seats out and brought them to the guy. There are some threads with pics of mine before and after. My seats still look pristine even several years later.
Having Bradan do my seats now, daytona conversion on 355 seats to go in a 348. Budget roughly 3k plus shipping.
Bradan did my 308 interior. Matching wasn't going to happen, but they did an outstanding job on the quality of the new leather & interior. I pulled the 355 seats 'cause they were looking dirty. After a little Greased Lighting, I found out some prior owner had re-dyed parts of them and the GL simply wiped it off. Time to re-spray them.
Easy to match the color if your interior is in good shape. $3k for stock pattern. Shoot me a PM if you want leather samples to match off.
I had received some leather samples from a really reputable vendor for the Kevlar seats in my 348 and while texture was close.. the color was not. I don't want to replace the entire car just the seats. Still debating what to do as I would like to replace them at some point. A few bad spots in them but not too terribly bad.
I paid about 3k for new leather from Re-Originals for my former 355. I also had the cavallino stamped in the headrests. I pulled the seats out myself and took it to a local guy who took off the old leather and installed the new for about another $500. No matter what anyone says, there's nothing like getting new leather! Image Unavailable, Please Login
I just did the seats. The seats of course, had the most wear in the interior, so the difference between the old covers and new covers was dramatic. The leather everywhere else was in very good shape so I left those alone. The color match was right on and although new leather throughout would have been even nicer, it would have been a lot more involved. For my 355, the seats made such a huge difference and that satisfied me. If you're looking for perfection, all the leather needs to be changed, as you can tell the difference, from the look, to the feel and even in the threads.
I've always been a little wary when buying a car that has had the leather changed throughout as its always a good indication of mileage. Isn't there a method where by they paint the leather in to the seat on the worn parts only?
The Daytona seats that Bradan did in my 355 have been knocking people out- Cannot tell you how much it changes the experience inside the car. Stock seats were great but the whole interior of the 355 could use a little boost. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
OK you suck, now I need to do this looks great How do you like the grey on black with the yellow car? Any second thoughts as to color instead of grey? I just cant decide what goes best with yellow exterior
I totally love the grey- No second thoughts at all- PERFECT with yellow. I'm going to shoot the F1 paddles a titanium metallic which should work with the grey piping nicely.
Dan's doing a special for Fchatters- I think it's still $3K for both. That's quite a bit less than I was quoted from the couple of West coast guys who do similarly excellent work. The guys in Danbury CT were quite a bit more money. My leather was in OK shape actually- My big issue is the drivers seat was actually broken and needed to be stripped to be repaired...
Thanks. That's a very reasonable price for the quality of workmanship. I think you're talking about Coachworks in CT. They do excellent work, but their prices are insane. I could see if these were coach-built Ferraris from the 1950-1960s, but come on.... The Kevlar forms the bucket/frame of the seat where the seat foam is placed and the upholstery, in this case leather, is attached and held in place by the use of Hog Rings and, sometime, other attachment methods.
The Bradan seats look great. I like the gray and black combo. And it does look great with the Yellow. Monte's seats also look great! I'm envious. Love Daytona Seats. Robb
Yeah the guys who advertise in Forza. I stopped by there and they're doing really super fine work, but just could not rationalize the prices they quoted.
