Bought my 00 360 2 years ago with 9k miles. As of today, just about 25k.
The "craters" cost me two rims(seperate incidents) on the F430. I switched to run-flats but also had to go for tire monitors(approx.$7,500 all together).
Bought my 360 spider in late Feb 2007 with 4500 miles. 10 months later it has 17K+ miles. Resale scmesale, miles = smiles.
Many fchatters have said the engine and running gear on the 360, as well as the 430 is "bullet proof" -- in terms of durability and quality -- compared to earlier F models. Yet, how could anyone make such a claim when even 'high mile cars' are still largely below 30K miles, maybe 40K miles. These cars might all break down entirely by 80K miles. In contrast, "bullet proof" seems like a reasonable attribute when discussing 150K mile BMWs or Porsches. I make this comment not only in reaction to the "bullet proof" claim made about 360s/430s buyt also to the "awesome" or "wow" response when someone reports their 360 has seen 30-50K+ miles. Its as if something rose from the dead!
Bought my 2000 360 two years ago with 18K miles, now have 38K. And honestly? It's the nicest 360 I've seen yet. I go to great lengths to keep it that way.
More behaviour I don't follow. If you don't want to drive your car, fine! It's your car. But why get sensitive and/or defensive about it? Live and let live. FWIW: I spoke a Belgian owner of a 575. His previous car was a 550 on which he put 100,000 miles in a couple of years. He said the car never gave him trouble. Nice to hear they can take it! If I get lucky enough to own mine for 10 years, I'll put on similar mileage as well. Onno
Paul, I was at Brian Cralls shop last weekend, checking progress on the tt boxer. There was a beautiful 360 there that had over 100k. Looked great and remains a daily driver I believe. The interior looked like a high teens car. Hows that for "bullet proof"? Getting warmer?
My CS had over 23k on it when I sold it and has since been up and down the west coast. Runs like a top.
not a 360/430 but i have a 550 with 50k on the clock. Bought in 2002 with 551 miles on it...the rest is all my doing. No trouble as of yet and is a daily driver as long as there isn't snow/salt on the ground...although i did get caught in a snow storm in driving from maryland to NJ last Feb...oops
Bought my '01 360 Spider F1 in Jan 2007 w/ 16k and now have over 27k. Most in one month was just over 4k.
Ding, Ding.... we have a winner... Now, that's impressive!!! I think that's more than I have ever put on any car in a month! Anyone else? More than 4k in a month? Hunter
Not all that impressive but I've done 7,500 miles in the first year with my '02 360 coupe. Now just passing 20K total. As others have said, the more it's driven the better it seems to drive. Lots of smiles so far and looks like many more to come.
Here overseas in Germany there's one up for sale with only 97000 km It's a 6 speed manual In the ad they write that the belts where changed on 95000 km and that the car will be sold to a car dealer or export So I assume they expect some troubles ! But on the pictures the car looks nice very nice.
Gotta love NY (except the roads). I agree with you totally. Post it when you hit 100,000 miles. IMO, BURNING HOT!!! Only 97K km. That's a little over 60K miles. That is still impressive to me.
Gotham Dream Cars' rental 360 had over 100k miles before it burnt to the ground after being driven at 7500rpm for 30 minutes on the Palisades Parkway by a renter. Image Unavailable, Please Login
There was an article here in the UK in Autocar magazine where an owner of a 360M had covered 120,000 miles. He sold it and bought another and is currently racking the miles up.
glad you guys are enjoying your cars and are not scared to drive them! enjoy it and keep the pictures/stories coming!!
So what would cause the 360 to catch on fire by driving it at 7500 rpm for 30 minutes? That's no good.
Agreed. It doesn't make sense that just driving the car at 7500rpm for 30 minutes would cause it to spontaneously combust. Throw a rod maybe or something like that, but just catch on fire? Any more info on this one? Hunter
...re: melted 360...looks like the results of a pressurized fuel leak to me...electronic fuel injection systems run in the ball park of 40 psi on the pressurized side of the system...enough for a leak to turn the car into a incendiary device in short order...and with the engine behind the cockpit...you might not smell anything 'til it's to late...
