My wife has no interest in my cars, hasn't even ridden let alone sat in the Eleanor or the 308, she is in love with her 996! Lol If she wanted to drive either, absolutely! Honestly I'm not sure who I would let drive the 308, I guess it would be on a case-by-case basis...
My girlfriend had never driven a stick before. I insisted on giving her lessons in the Ferrari. I think it is neat that she can honestly say she learned to drive a stick in a Ferrari.
As I posted, I did that with my 15 year old niece. She had a bad experience when her father took her driving, but that's because he's a Marine and not much patience. On top of that, she's a star soccer player that had just completed surgery to repair her ruptured ACL - so she was pretty bummed (she's going to miss her entire junior year...not good). I drove my 308 to a high school parking lot and showed her what to do...she did a fantastic job, didn't stall the car. And she gets to brag a little that she learned how to drive stick on a Ferrari. How many kids can say that??
NOT IN A 308! I need to be able to stop the %$#&@ car by pulling the handbrake from the passenger's seat.
My girlfriend doesn't know how to drive a manual either. I offered, but she refused. She's too short to see over the dash though, so can't blame her. Given the preload on the pilot bearing, and the car's ability to take off at idle, wouldn't necessarily be a bad learning car... haha. As for who I'd let drive... family and friends, *IF* I knew beforehand they knew how to drive and respect a car. So far no one has asked, so it's just been me. I tried to get my dad to give it a spin but he took one look at the driving position and refused to even attempt it... he has a bad back. Usually I just get asked to take folks for a ride and I always am happy to agree.
Hell no. He'll drift my tires to shreds within one youtube episode... (Have you seen the one he's posted yesterday? F40 and F50 head to head. Awesome) As for who I let drive: Just about anybody. Very few without me riding shotgun though...
You misunderstand - I was the one under sufferance - taking 365 with a busted exhaust to the workshop is not edifying! And to make matters worse I had to pick up a friend fom the airport drive through along the way...
One of my best experiences was when my Dad drove my Ferrari. He was so excited and after driving it for a bit the revs started to rise and rise and rise and he looked over at me and said how could you not the sound of the motor is pure music. It meant a lot to me to share it with him and I still get vaklempt thinking about it!
Anyone that wants to but never without me in passenger seat. Most people don't take me up on it after I show them "how" I drive it.
+1 Regarding Dad.. If it weren't for him, I would've never received the education to get a job paying well enough to purchase one..
My wife looks great driving the cars. Could not imagine any possession that she should not share and enjoy.
