I know someone getting one... he has not been asked to put down a deposit (he will pretrade a 575 when he specs his car) or been given an exact price yet. He is told he is a year+ out from getting his car. This guy is not the first person on the dealers list. But has been told the dealer expects to start seeing 599's late this fall. With all of this in mind, realize deposits and such can vary dealer to dealer and sometimes even customer to customer.

Not all the answers you were looking for, but it gives you a good start. I am sure there is someone around who getting one personally can give more specific info.

It looks like 599 productions is going to be pretty low...that having been said, I don't think many people will be getting one. I'm afraid the supply might be so low that it may decrease the demand. It sounds kind of silly, but it is kind of a vicious cirlce, supply does drive demand, but it's possible that the supply is so low that people will kind of "forget" about the car, because you won't see that many other there. Then we'll have the typical situation where we find 12 cylinder prices slipping rapidly after the cars intial release.

Me too :), maybe Dec. 06, probably Jan 07, ordered 4 years ago, Color, probably Silverstone/Cuio,

I don’t think dealers have their ordering materials/kit yet.

I’m going to Maranello to see colors and options in Sept., will spec it out when I return.

Do you think lots of people that are not interested were put on the list by the dealer? My dad was put on potential buyers list in early january. Is it to come any soon? Would dark metallic gray with rosso corsa interior look good? or rosso fiorano with cuio (or what ever its called) interior?

    Thanks,
    Vic

US Dealers have been told not to expect ordering specs until September, with some cars arriving early November. The factory is cranking out Euros at a frantic pace right now but they won't produce US cars until they have figured out all of the running issues. It's much more expensive to deal with defects in the US market than elsewhere, especially with the NHTSA being ever ready to mandate a recall if there appears to be a widespread issue.

Some people will get their cars this year and they will be 2006 models. Personally, I'm prepared to wait until they have delivered a bunch and figured out the nitpicky issues, and get a 2007 which has a marginally better value than a 2006 down the line.

I was sposed to get my F430 in July but my dealer told me that it will be late till Sep. So I decided to go for the 599 instead. I managed to get one of 3 599s that are coming this year. I'm going for Giogio Silverstone with the 20 inchs rims. I'm not sure about the racing seats, I just hope that Ferrari offers other seats.

Till then, I'll be driving my 360 which I'm not planing to sell anytime soon!

    Good luck for all!!

Pricing here in the UK will be £172k for a base car. All of the first cars which arrive in 2006 will have to have ceramics specified bringing the cost upto £184k approx. Ferrari wont make the first batch without ceramics so I am told. I have seen the UK option list which has no prices on it as yet. There was no different seat option. You can have a full electric Recaro seat but this is same seat just with full electric functionality. Satnav is now in the LCD display as opposed to being in the Becker radio unit.

Options I will probably go for are 20" monolithic rims, Enzo steering wheel, elec Recaros, Satnav, Bose hifi, ipod connectivity and shields. Still not sure about the ceramics as you will be looking at a £200k car... bringing it close to CGT prices.

The dealers obviously get their demo cars first. My dealer has specified Nero with Rosso interior plus practically every option.

What do you guys think about the cost/ benefit of ceramic brakes on a car that will see only occasional track use?

I will take the 599 to the track probably no more than twice a year for the first few years, and then it will only be a touring GT car.

I don’t ever expect to drive it on the street over the potential of iron brakes.

I simply can’t see the justification of ceramic brakes at probably around $20K

Do you think there will be a return on investment over a car with iron brakes?

It depends if you are one of those people who can settle for less than the best or not.
Practical people will say that ceramic brakes are unnecesary in normal driving and they would be right, but practical people will also be happy with a shiny new Volvo.
The truth is that less than one in a thousand Ferrari owners will ever drive their cars to their maximum potential and almost all of the nth degree of performance available in a new Ferrari will go unused.
But, and it's a big but, I believe that if you are in the market for a $300k car you should get the best iteration of that car available, with all of the technology that makes it stand apart from all others.

Wise move given the refinements and recalls the 550 and 360 platforms had in the early years. It's unclear how much the 612 may have aided the shake-down of the 599 given the 612 has been a produced in such low low volumes.

No the CS is more of the Angelina type in my opinion and I would track that anytime.

The 599 seems like too much of a GT car to me, which I love btw.
