Thinking of making the journey, Maybe take the Slutmobile with me :)
I have already prepaid my room for Thurs/Fri/Sat/Sun night at the Marriott for $500 smackers a night. Not sure if I'm gonna go... Just kidding. Dale
My wife and I entered our 91 Testarossa and are looking forward to meeting some of you folks. Someone mentioned a picnic, great idea if it happens.....Charlie
I'll definitely be at Concorso, but not sure about the rest of the weekend festivities yet. Thinking about going to Laguna the weekend before for the "pre-Historics." I was talking to a guy a couple months ago, and he said that about 80% of the cars attending the Historics will be there, but you admission fees, parking, etc. Pretty much like an open track day for the drivers, and free range to go wherever for a spectator like me. Aaron
I'll be there - got my hotel already and will be buying tickets soon. I was planning on going only to the Historics on Saturday and the Concours on Sunday. How bad are the crowds on Saturday? Someone suggested that I go Friday afternoon to Laguna also - less crowds and more freedom to walk around. Is the Concorso Italiano worth going to?
The trifecta is Concorso-Historics-Pebble. I had a great time at my first CI. Second time was downright miserable. Third time was okay, but not great. Been there, done that. Essentially the same cars year after year, most painted red. Vowed to never go back. IMO, no matter what they do, traffic will always be such a problem that I just don't want the hassle. Every exotic car enthusiast should go once, though. Historics are not crowded. You can watch the cars "race," or wander through the paddock area and look at the cars really close up, talk to their owners and drivers, etc. Essentially, the same cars show up every year with a few extras of the featured marque. Again, been there, done that. If you love older cars, you have to go at least once. The Pebble Beach Concours is amazing. Really a one-of-a-kind event. Unlike the other two events, you can go back year after year and see different cars each time.
If you are from out of the area it is worth going to Carmel By The Sea on Thursday morning. They close the main part of Ocean Ave in the resturant/ shopping/tourist district and pack the street with cars going to Pebble. It is free and a great preview of what will be there.
I'll be there. Staying in a house in Carmel-by-the-sea. Not bringing the Ferrari, though. JSL, I'm looking forward to seeing the old beast! I'm sure that it's never been better!
How far is "not-too-far"? Check in our NorCal section...there was some mention of a possible chateau rental a month or two back...perhaps there's still "availability". I'd offer up our guest room for ya', man, but methinks our humble San Jose abode wouldn't quite be up to Miami Big Bolla standards! That, and the fact that we're 45 minutes to 1.5 hours from Carmel, depending on traffic and how fast you drive... Aaron
I'm in - driving the 348 up. Wednesday through Sunday nights, got a B&B in Pacific Grove. Signed up for CI, gonna get over to Quail as well, plus the Pininfarina do on Friday night. Plus whatever I can get invited to.... Cheers Kevin
Why was Salinas a pain? It looks close on the map... Will there be a TON of traffic Saturday AM trying to get to Laguna Seca or Sunday AM trying to get to Pebble Beach? I guess I can just get up VERY early for both days, right?
I plan to once again attend the weekend event. It's the 12'th time I think over the past 15 years. Trying to get some from Chicagoland to go. Was treated last year by friend to drive some of the cars up on the RM auction block.
