I am not looking at points, World Championships, wins, or anything like that. Who do you feel is the most exciting passer ever?

My pick has to be Gilles Villeneuve.

Gilles is a good pick. However just to be different, I'd go with Alan Jones. No holes barred attitude, straight as an arrow. Sometimes directly into the sand trap (vs Nelson).

And don't forget Nigel Mansell. He pulled off some amazing passes in his day.

Mansell was definitely an excellent passer, one of my favorites.

I can't say I've ever seen Alan Jones in action, so I can't comment on him.

If James couldn't pass you on the road he simply drove over either your rear wheel or the front one...which ever was most handy...

Jody Scheckter also a spirited competitor.
