I'd say our FFQC host, Mr. John Houghtaling, III might be contacted for a referral, unless he's already on that side of the table! LOL!

I have no idea of his specialty, but he'll sort you out....it's a big small town down there, everyone knows everyone.

Tell her to dry her tears and that my fiancee just bailed on me......ROTFLMAO!

 

I'd go on to say "mean " is the wrong attitude...split the bills,... liquidate the joint assets, watch Easy Rider, and leave town travelling light.....anything else is just burdensome emotional baggae, best toss that knapsack off the bridge.......like Robert Earl Keen in "Corpus Christi Bay".........

I have heard that when some guys are getting a divorce they will call him and ask for representation, just so Dave can turn them down and not be able to represent their ex-wife.

I agree with Bigtex. I do divorces in Houston and really see waay too much "cost" put into a divorce--and it's all emotional.

Having said that, to find a good divorce lawyer you will need to go to a local law school and get recent CLE materials for divorces. Look up the name of a CLE contributer to that set of materials and ask him to represent you. He would not have been asked to do a CLE unless he had a great reputation. IMO. Any other search method makes you subject to marketing.

In order to keep your Louisiana Bar Association license, you have to complete a certain amount of CLE courses every year.

 

I've heard that about lots of attorneys since Tony Soprano used that tactic.

Stay out of this situation. Getting involved with such things tends to have a way of backfiring and causing the "supportive friend" a great deal of grief.
