I think that the Volvo 240 is now the official new pimpwagon. That's it. I'm gonna pick one up this week.

Pre-teenagers, teenagers, and guys 35--60. I'm always amazed at the young kids' reactions: I've got some kind of preconceived notion that anything of an earlier style generation than a 308, Dino, or Boxer is off the screen for them but obviously I'm wrong.

I drive a lot of unique cars and it's funny who notices what... and who will approach and ask questions. Some cars seem to make you more "accessible".

With an old Corvair, _everybody_ will come up and talk to you... most saying that their parents or an uncle had one but many trying to explain to you just how dangerous the car is and how they thought they had been outlawed!

With little British stuff, not as many people will come over and talk... unless it's something really unique like my Berkeley... then you can't even drive to the post office without attracting a crowd and having to answer endless questions.

With something more exotic (Ferrari, Pantera) people just don't seem to be as willing to approach. Biggest draw with the 308 has been kids.

But women don't seem to notice any car I've owned except for my Mini (real Mini not the BMW MINI). They absolutely flock to these cars... from 5 years old to 95! My daughter had rather I drive her to high school in the Mini than the Ferrari... and I've never had the Mini on campus when girls didn't approach me to tell me how cool the car was. Works the same at car shows (where many women get dragged against their will)...

So my advice is... if you want women to flock to you, a Mini is the most effective tool. (I do fully agree that most that _seem_ to be attracted by an exotic are attracted more to the money which they assumes accompanies it)...

...My favorite story along these lines was about a decade ago when I was driving through VA beach in my Allante. Car full of young (college age) girls pull up. Beautiful blonde leans over and asks "Are you married?". I replied "no". She says "Then I think I love you!". But of course I wasn't interested in the sort of woman who would be attracted by a Cadillac! ;-)

(I still drive an Allante, but 10 years has dulled the attractiveness to gold diggers)
