NL NL NL whats the point if you cant run the pot way up and sucker other people into calling??
With $100, you could play the $1-$2 table just to get your feet wet. If you like NL, you could always play tourneys with buy ins anywhere from $5-$30. They are usually 10 people tourneys that are NL and the blinds go up every 10 hands.
I just got signed up at pokerroom.com, somebody already has my FC username so I'm cd_rdmd over there.
I'm in Limassol, $5-10 limit under the alias Weezilwood. I'll probably be playing for another 15 minutes or so.
Finally last night after 5 business days my money made it to my neteller account and then it was immediate to www.pokerroom.com. I went to a $.50-1 NL table. Much fun, first real money hand ever on the internet and I got pocket aces! With a 10 player table most of the winning hands took $5-20. Within 10 minutes I was up to $80 from 50, but then I must of gone an hour without many winning hands. The worst was two pocket hearts Q high and the board only had 3 hearts. I was going head to head and the betting got up to a $50 pot. Well, he had the Ace and there went most of my profits. It was fun, I played over 2 hours. Much more fun with real money as bluffs actually work. Next thing I want to try is a tournament.
I was wondering how you wre doing just yesterday. Pocket Aces on the first hand - Nice! Good luck with the tourneys!
Well, thought I would check in with all the poker players. Lost my first $100 real last month in only about 3 days of playing. This month my $100 is still going strong. My balance is about $140. Played first tournament earlier this week. $20 NL. Finished 280 out of 320. Played second tournament two days ago. $5 NL. Finished 206 out of 430. I guess that means I'm improving and in another year I'll finish in the money? The tournaments are a bunch of fun. I think I'll look for a tournament game first before going to the regular table. I'm also staying away from the play money games, just not realistic with 75% flops.
I've since moved to paradisepoker.com - recommended to me by a friend who plays there regularly and came in 2nd in one of the big tournaments. I don't play all that much, but when I do, I go there now. I was having problems connecting to PokerRoom.com.
Not bad You should take some of those winnings and invest in some of the classic poker books. Whenever I win my next game (my friends and I play almost every weekend) I am going to invest I think. Some of the good ones I've heard about are Brunson's Super System, Theory of Poker, and the 2 Sklansky books. Although I guess from what I've gathered the strategy is different for structured/NL, but I suppose some of the strategies can carry over. Since I am just talking out of my ass, maybe someone else could chime in?
I've played some big tournaments, but haven't done better than 50-60 percentile. I just played a 10 person $5 tournament and won, so maybe the luck can spread to big money.
