I am close to switching to a 8830 Blackberry. Is there a favorite PDA here in Ferrari world? Any comments on any of the PDA's would be helpful to me. I have been lucky being able to try the 8830 out for a week. I really like it just in using it for two days so far.

I love blackberry. I use to have a Palm and I had to restart it every day at least once. Once you learn all the tricks and shortcuts you'll love it more

I've used BB for almost ten years now, I would not change, they just work. One of my guys came to me wanting a Treo to replace his BB, that lasted for less than two weeks, the first time he went out of town and it wouldn't connect for him was enough and he came back to the BB. Currently most of are converting to the Curve, it's the best to date. Lot's of neat features, you can now listen to VM left as email attachments on a corporate UM system, before you could only see the attachment and had to call in to listen to the message.

i would not recommend the full keyboard, it is unnecessary.

If you are looking for a device mainly for e-mail then BlackBerry by far wins hands down. I have delt with the BB for about 5 years now and there is nothing that beats them in a corp world.
On the other hand the new Windows Mobile 6 does work nice with a fully set up Exchange server and offers some more functionality than a Blackberry as far as editing office documents.

My personal choice for a phone lately has been the HTC Touch. It is as small as a Moto Razor closed.

Good point on the two major differences in the BB line of products. BB offers two different ways of typing. The first is the standard QWERTY keyboard and works just as you would expect. Some of the full keyboards have different feels to the keys so test it out first.
The second way of typing is Predictive typing. I was not sure on this one right away but have come to love typing this way over using a full keyboard. Predictive typing condenses the keyboard down to two letters per key and will figure out and learn your words. It takes about 1-2 weeks to fully get used to it but once you do you can fly.

I'm also not a big fan of the new trackball Blackberry has been using I loved the wheel much more.

    Have I said enough yet?

BB 8703E I think is the one I have...

    Absolutely love it, no problems.

Every month I need to send service updates to speed it up, but that's about it.

Speaking of the BlackBerry, there is suppose to be an update for the OS(operating system for the noobs) sometime this week!

It will include video recording capabilities and voice messages via text/MMS.

This post feels unnecessary now, but add another tick in the blackberry column. I have an 8830 and i refuse to change. I would change phones about every 4 months, but i have had this one for a while now and the only way i would change is if Verizon comes out with a Curve. I have tried the Treo, the Samsung i730, Motorola Q and played with a couple others and i don't like them as much. Sometimes i wish the BB had a camera, but it isn't important enough to make me want to change devices.

I'm also addicted to brick breaker, i had a score of 1.2 million with 247 lives left and the freakin thing just randomly reset on me. Now i can't seem to get past 30k again. It took me about 5-6 weeks to get up to that 1.2 million also.

One of my lake partners has the Trio and re-boots it daily after freezing up. Another has the Q. I am amazed more each day as I continue to learn other features. I'll be sorry to let her go back on Monday.
    Thanks for all the input!!

BTW in less than 10 minutes I had installed the re-director(sp?) and was working perfectly with my exchange server.

Using the redirector from your desktop should be syncing your Outlook mail client not going to the Exchange server. Only way for the BlackBerries to talk directly to the Exchange server is to have a BlackBerry Enterprise Server running and when that is set up correctly you will get your mail to your BB faster than your Outlook client.
