I think it looks nice. Most cars rims are too f'n small, like the 612's. I like it when a rim/tire fills out the fenderwell gaps. Looks right to me, personally.
I'm a fan of rims just as much as the next guy, but there is a FINE LINE between "tasteful appearance modification" and "badass bling bling". Those rims fall in the second category. A nice set of 19s or 20's, chrome deep dish AMG or Brabus rims are my choice on a Merc.
Looks overly pimped, especially on the most conservative luxury sedan you can buy. Mercedes is supposed to be quiet and classy.
I think the original poster answered his own question...nba players. These just buy the most expensive mercedes cuz they think it's cool and through some stupid looking wheels on it. I see it everyday here.
A good argument here would be; If you were to buy a $3000 Armani suit, wouldn't you spend another $500 and get a nice pair of Prada shoes to compliment it? Buying an Armani suit and then a pair of $300 Blue Chrome Nike Shoxx is just gross and disgusting...and totally missing the point.
I'm great friends with the owner of Chariots of fire. Top notch shop, and nothing leaves unless it's perfect. Thats seems to be a rare comodity these days. As for the 22's, they really don't seem out of place now-a-days. Even many of the stockers come with 20" ers . Darrell.
