Do you go to the authorized Ferrari dealer or an independent for your service?Do you have specific reasons in selecting one over the other? Who do you recommend for independent service?

I have always used Scottsdale Ferrari service (328GTS, 550, Challenge Stradale and Porsche 930) and been very pleased with how I was treated and their workmanship. There are local owners who have very real and legitimate gripes against Scottsdale Ferrari service and thankfully there are two technically competent independent shops (Alex Traverso and Andy Falbo) to serve those who choose not to use the dealer.

New cars that require an SD3 computer to diagnose anything are best served at Scottsdale Ferrari. The head tech, Jim Summers has been around Ferraris forever and Chris has always done right by me with any issues I have had (all warranty so far).

Older cars I entrust to Alex Traverso. He is one of those rare individuals who can perfectly set up carbs by ear. He is also reasonable and efficient 480-241-8877

I use Jeff LaBlond, He is located near Glendale 623-566-1628. He was recommended to me by my mechanic, Tony Paladino, Modena Motors, in San Francisco, who took care of my car for over 19 years. He is the best, also does work for Jay Leno.

Alex Traverso has done some work on my 348 Spider and I have been very happy with him.
Eugenio Melbon in Glendora CA. is also an amazing mechanic that has done all my majors and I can not say enough great things about him. Most detailed mechanic I have ever met.

I use Atwood European (Andrew Atwood) for the 328 and most things on the RR. As stated above if its an SD3 vehicle you might want to use the dealership although I thought I heard something about Andy having an SD3 at one point in time, I could be wrong....

with some of the new cars like the 430 you can actually go through the SD2 but go under a different program and still do some of the same features like bleed the clutch and what not. ALthough using the SD3 does make it simpler.

My dad has used Andy for his Gallardo , 360 , and F430 does great work and will even pick up your car if need be. My brother in-law works there and Andy lets me use the lift when there are no cars in the shop to work on my Mercedes.

Andy appreciates that some of us are on a budget and usually tries to remedy the issue without total new replacement. I just finished my Testarossa engine out with him and very happy. He's also serviced my 550. Plus he's a real nice guy.
