Ok, I confess I think Ferrari engine is the best engine...yet I am a die hard drag racer. I built my first hot rod at age 16, this is the one my dad started like I said in the Richmond thread. Anyway, the car and everything is being shipped to me because he is very sick and will not be able to finish it.

Anyway lets hope this pic works.

    Its a 41 willy.

I'm not really into hot rods. But that think looks good and will be ripping up the streets, literally. Congrats!

I'm going to have to call BS....maybe I'm way out of touch these days, but 600 or may 800hp is all I recall seeing out of a street big block and anything over 1hp/ci is generally considered very good. If you throw a blower on an 800hp engine, you'd need to be intercooled and pushing 45 psi to hit that number. I have seen street(able) 4v turbo cars hitting 300hp/liter, I don't recall seeing a 2v topping 200/liter and 150/liter seems to be where the pushrod engines fall out....and if you are making 150hp/liter from your 9+ liter engine, no I can't beat that....in fact I couldn't even beat a nice 9+ liter engine without a blower on it. 2400 just seem to be stretching the facts a bit....but honsetly I love to be proven wrong.

yeah, i will prove you wrong. Where have you been living. Do you not see the blown drag cars? This engine is basically a detuned pro-street engine, which in most cases is around 6000 hp! Rail cars do not have intercoolers persay, my dad has been drag racing cars since the 60's I think he knows what he is talking about. But hey I could be wrong.

Btw a 600 hp engine doesn't cost 30k grand this one did, one of a kind parts, custom pistons etc..., the engine runs either on Alcohol/Methane or regular pump gas.

:shrugs: I will post dynos when it gets done, or I can get them from the engine builder. But most dynos only go up to 1200 hp for the big hp cars, so it will just be a graph that goes to the top of the page and doesnt continue.

Don't call BS unless you know the facts.

Food for thought while results are in:

Nascar cars make upwards of 700 hp Naturally Asp.

So, It can be done. John Force's car does not do 300 mph, with an engine that is 600 hp. His engine is in the thousands. His is blown running nitro methane, with no intercooler system. once again :shrugs:

Acutal number should be around 1600 whp, crank horse power on engine dyno is always going to be favorable number.

I'll believe 1600 on alcohol, but if I'm doing my math right, you are going to need a crank pulley about 50% bigger than the you I see in the pic. I don't mean to say anything bad, you have what looks like a great engine and car shaping -up. I just never understand why everybody always want to say they have a million hp...

The alcohol and fuel guys get away without intercoolers because both fuels absorb a lot of heat when they vaporize, cooling the air and the thermal mass the the engine and blower which start the run cold, it mostly the fuel cooling though.

Also the very high hp engines like John Force's are runnig screw type blowers these days because they don't heat the air nearly as much at very high boost numbers. A root type, like an 8-71 is a great peice for 5-10 psi, but above that going to a screw type adds quite a bit of hp.

Good luck with, I'm sure it will be a blast to drive!...I can barely handle mine with a fraction of what that thing will make.

I call BS too. Let's see some dyno results, surely someone in the free world has a dyno that can handle that thing. Check with your dad. What are you gonna do with that gay thing anyway?

Thank you for all the wonderful comments. On alcohol 1600 horse power at 12 psi, is not BS. Like I said when it gets finished and I get it on the dyno here in town. Yes i found one that will go up to around that number, so I will post. But dont hold your breath it wont be finished for another year or so. And what I am going to do with that "gay" thing, well hopefully if my dad holds on long enough we will take it to shows, horsepower tours, who knows. I will not go on further because if you can not appreciate where you have come from, how you can you appreciate where you are now, or where you are going.

I think that comments pretty uncalled for. There are those that look at this car and see the hard work and muscled beauty. I truelly hope to see your project completed and your dad gets to see the results. Good luck

Then again, if you do this to it, then I got questions

^ that is the stupidest thing I have ever seen. That thing would be so ungodly hard to tune. Six individual carbs oh lord, if one goes your whole engine is messing up. To each their own.

That sounds about right to me for alcohol....motors run good or alcohol and blower motors love it because it cools the air so well.

How many cubic inches is that moster? Compression ratio?

I still can't imagine trying to drive it on the street...mine makes about 1/2 the power (I'm guessing 1000-to maybe 1200 on pump gas) and it's a handful...on my car, open the throttle in 1st or 2nd and the wheels spin and they spin in 3rd with a hard shift. I've got to imagine so much power in a nice light hotrod and there will be no gear that will stop the wheel spin on street tires....drag slicks might do the trick though :)

2400 hp IS BS. If you can't see that, then I guess I don't know what else to say. The reason for my harshness is that he was implying that his engine was a "real" engine, as opposed to Ferrari engines. After all, on a Ferrari forum, what else would he be implying? I have nothing against American muscle, only the way he presented it.

"Ok, I confess I think Ferrari engine is the best engine"

Jerri-its ok I will just think that you missed that in the original post.

    Last thing:

My car has 230 hp stock it dynos at 165 whp(WRX), so how is saying 2400 crank horsepower on alcohol as opposed to what it will put down on the dyno in around 1600 horsepower at the wheels is that unthinkable?

Do to the negative nature this thread has turned into, would a moderator please delete this thread. No one can understand the sarcasam behind the title. Everyone thinks they are an expert...etc...I do not feel comfortable posting in this thread and maybe the forum, thank you, so please delete all my post. I am so tired of the same ol' BS I was just trying to share something my dying father and I are trying to accomplish, if they numbers are off they are off, I was told by the engine builder and my father whom i trust. So to me the numbers are accurate.
