Who wants which newbies to score a point or two?

I think Rupert's photo was in the 1978 Canadian GP program (long since gone) for the Surtees, but I see it was Beppe who didn't manage to qualify at my first GP .

All I remember was the bitter cold at the yet to be named turn (Senna) Dad decided was the best viewing area for his cadre of general admission plodders....

 

I feel the same way about our school system.
I say send the kids out into the world and see if they survive.
Right now we really dont need their contribution.
In a way they are just overhead slowing the rest of us down.

 

You really see a lot of parallels between elementary public education and pro sports?
In a competitive environment like F1 or advanced education you either perform or leave.
No one has a right to attend MIT nor to race in F1.

 

But they both have to start somewhere.
Often nurturing is involved. Look at new pro teams at least here in the US. Lots and lots of bones are thrown to them. And many exist in a salary capped environment.
So yes I see parallels.
