Just posted at Autosport: Out of those, I think Nick would have to be my choice...... Cheers, Ian http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/89342
I know Alonso likes Liuzzi. Pre-season he stated if anyone deserved a ride who is not getting one it is him.
Watch some of his previous F1 races, and then some of his GP2 races. That guy has the name, that's it.
Has anyone considered the possibility of Renault buying Trulli out of his Lotus contract? This would give them an established baseline and a past team driver that could get them through this difficult period. There are too many millions being invested into the effort to have two drivers that just do not have the experience to make them rounded enough to make the most of the chassis and team resources available to the same degree that a long-time veteran would... Trulli would probably be VERY interested in getting out of the slow Lotus chassis into a Renault chassis that can fight for points. This would be an outstanding deal for all parties concerned: - Renault gets a veteran driver that can get the car in the points and give a solid performance. - Lotus gets millions of money that it desperately needs and could use those resources to build up its team/staff for the long-term. - Trulli gets out of a back-marker and back into a solid mid-field car that can fight for points. Past team driver, so solid baseline. A perfect scenario for all concerned.
I think Trulli is past his sell by date... While a good driver, I'm not sure he'd be the pick as I don't think he'd be worth the money. There's no way Renault could afford to leave Bruno in the car for the year, Bruno is a coattail driver as he's accomplished little compared to others. I'm in the Hulkenberg camp and while not a Kimi fan in the least it would be interesting to see him in the seat as well.
If Renault wants experience, then Heidi is the best bet. If they wanna pair two hot shots, then it;s gotta be the Hulk. I don't have problems with either.
What is Luca Badoer doing these days? More seriously, would Giancarlo Fisichella want back in? I know he's tied to Ferrari in the GT cars, but he did do very well for Force India a few years back.
You must be joking!!! Although, I must confess that the thought crossed my mind, but just for a second. Next, everyone would be wanting Briatore to take over from Colin Kolles and Pat Symmonds back in the frame as technical direstor at HRT... No, I must be hallucinating ... LOL
Renaw says Senna, Heidfeld and Liuzzi. Senna is useless imo. He wasn't anything special in GP2 and iirc Christian Klien easily out performed him the couple times he drove that car. Liuzzi can be fast, but more often that not he wasn't last season. Heidfeld, while no Kubica, is the best bet of those three.
Danica has not released a press report. Tightly holding her cards. Watching and waiting for the moment....
Heh. The return of JPM? Of course, why would he go race for less money in a NASCAR feeder series? There's always JV . . .
Well, by that reasoning they could stick Kim Kardashian in the car. The again, her fat *** won't fit in it. I have to agree, hasn't he been around for about 20 years now? (sic)
I can't recall which of those two times Massa won the WDC...? Massa will be driving for a back mark team in the very near future.
It makes it even worse that Kimi is a former WDC winner (granted, only through cheating, but I don't care about that) and he went on to get smoked by Massa. Twice. And I rate Massa about as high as I rate Trulli or Kovalainen. EDIT: Now that I think about it, Massa would be great in the Renault. It's doubtful they will be a front running team, but they need someone who can be fast and who can bring some experience their way. Massa wouldn't be a patch on Kubica, but he's probably better than Hulk (today, that is), and I think Heidfeld and Massa would be a close competition.
Did you guys miss that Renault already said it'll be Heidfeld, Liuzzi or Senna.. http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/89342
Heidfeld is the only realistic option, and the choice they should make if they really want to do something serious this year. Only money will make that deal happen or not. Taking Liuzzi or worst Senna is just setting yourself low for the season.
Boullier seems to think this fiasco is nothing more than a minor bump in the road and Kubby will be back and kicking F1 in a few months tops. What an attitude, I love it.
I did, thanks for pointing that out. Amongst those three, they would be nuts if they chose anyone but Heidfeld. They would be utterly insane to choose Senna.
