I'd like everyone's opinion as to who they honestly believe will win the WDC this year-who do you think will win, not who do you want to win. Please use your head, not your heart, and please do not let this become an "MS sucks" or "AS stinks" thread-we've had enough of those......

I think FA will win because he's not only fast, but he's had incredible luck-KR's reliability woes in '05 and MS's motor letting go in Japan in '06 are prime examples, just like LH's tire troubles in China..Something funky will happen and FA will win...

    Hamilton.

He has a 3 point-advantage which basically means he can finish 1-2 spots behind Alonso and still take the WDC. Also, McLaren has been the most reliable car this year, and Hamilton is no longer trying to win this thing in one race - he knows now what he must do and what he doesn't need to do. Most likely McLaren will be on pole, which means he has no need to push Alonso in order to win - he can settle into a nice 2nd place and take the WDC.

For Alonso to win he must get a 1st and Hamilton 2 places further back, but if Kimi/Massa take it, then Alonso gets a 3rd, then Hamilton would need to be what, 4 places further back to win?

It will be quite hard for Alonso to pull it off. It will pretty much take a Hamilton/Alonso DNF and a win for Kimi to pull it off. It only takes a finish in the points and no more than 1-2 places behind Alonso for Hamilton to win. He has the best and most likely shot at it.

It would already be LH if weather didn't come into play the last race. If the weather is good, LH unless the unthinkable happens, if it rains, KR or FA has a very good chance. I would like to see KR get it obviously(race win) with Massa second, BMW's third and fourth, Coulthard fifth......does that mean KR wins the title? Anyway, the guy I don't want to see win is FA!!!

Hamilton has only finished more than two places away from Alonso on two occassions, one of those was last week. The other was at the Nurburgring. There's no way Hamilton will let this championship slip out of his hands in the last minute, but we all know.

I agree with this thank's for working it out Mike .:)

He snatched defeat from the jaws of victory in China so maybe he learned a lesson.

In this situation Kimi takes the title :) (I'm sure Massa would let him take the lead if it was to be a Ferrari 1-2)

    Hamilton: 75%
    Alonso: 20%
    Kimi: 5%

The only realistic chance Kimi has is a double DNF by Hamilton & Alonso (most likely by knocking each other out). If Alonso can get 1st place he'll likely win the WDC (Kimi/Massa would get 2nd in most scenarios). Winning in this field is no easy feat though.

Call me a cynic, but the moment I saw LH's car being lifted back on in Germany I started thinking that somebody had already decided the answer to your question. Not much has happened since to change my mind. My opinion is that circumstances will "arise" in an attempt to ensure that LH finishes in the right position...

As an aside, it's probably already been said in another thread, but back in '99 Irvine was leading the WDC by 4 points ahead of the final race and still blew it. As a tifoso I live in hope. (I'll be polishing my Ferrari for a blast down to Maranello in case we win it:D)

    Hamilton.

If he has gotten wiser since the last race, he will give FA a "point by" if he's anywhere near him!!! Then LH can just smile and cruise to 2nd or 3rd and his first WDC. If LH gets pole he will disappear into the distance and it will be a really boring race. Where's Sato or Ralf when you really need them? ;)

Here's hoping that he hasn't learned anything and he makes "two mistakes" for the year!......;)

    Go Kimi!
(I just want to hear Kimi speak in monotone at the postrace conference about winning the WDC)

I'm pulling for LH, just to see a rookie win the championship. But I wish Kimi would seal it as well.

Maybe we can get Fox News in on this? The "War on Formula 1". With enough press, they can declare the winner before the end of the race.

LOL! We can only hope. That is the only solution to this season, IMHO.

Also, If Kimi wins the race but not the WDC, that will be #6 vs LH #4 for the year. Six race wins and not the WDC. This will further inflame the "tainted" title argument in a "tainted" car.

I'm sure Hamilton will take it, though!

What if Massa took all three of them out, including himself? That would be an interesting podium and more points for RedBull Ferrari too! Just imagine Heidfeld, Kubica and Heikki on the podium!

Not if FA returns the "brake check" move to LH! :) Temporary gearbox "problem" to close the gap, pit stops, etc. I really think that FA feels he has nothing to lose, especially if he knows he's going elsewhere next season. He could care less about second.

Boy, ANYTHING fishy between those 2 and Lord Vader and McLaren will really be scrutinized.

    Be afraid, be very afraid.
