The OP asked who you would bring to SF from ANOTHER series. I think he was trying for a different spin than the usual suspects that get tossed around every week - depending on who is hot that week. Very interesting question but I don't follow any other series closely enough to offer a suggestion.
From another series? Pff. I don't think ANY of the GP2 chaps are good enough at the moment. Not for a Ferrari drive, but F1 drive in general. I'm sure some get there, with a heavy bag of money...but none will set the world on fire. Louis Deletraz in FR3.5 is an interesting guy to keep your eye out for. The only obvious choice would be Stoffel. I'd sign him in a heartbeat.
The best driver outside f.1is by far Felix da Costa..i'm pretty sure Marko realized how dumb he was taking Kvyat instead..but of course, money talks..bs walks...
You touch on an interesting point. The influence of dictators and oligarchs on F1. How many God awful drivers must we suffer because they have access to the checkbook of the likes of Cesar Chavez or the Russian and OPEC oligarchs. I understand their desire to gain legitimacy through F1, but their money and the influence it buys is toxic. The top half of the grid is populated by capable drivers...beyond that?????????
After watching this year, I'd bring in perhaps a new technology partner/supplier for race strategy software. I'm curious where Ferrari's software rates with the others. With the speed of technology these days this is probably old news by now, but back 3 or 4 years ago McLaren's SAP big data software was analyzing 300,000 simulated races per second given all the data points during a live grand prix to determine the best race strategy at any instant.
We need that Russian software guy back who could make the program disappear after the race Not that Ferrari has ever cheated
Since the question asks about a driver from another series... I'm quite impressed with Brendan Hartley. Solid driver, makes very few mistakes, and when he does, he ers in the side of action (aggression). Doesn't piss and moan on the radio, just goes out and gets the job done. But even more so, I would go for Pippo Derani. Did you see the final 15 minutes at Sebring?? That kid knows how to win.
Some say he's never heard of Instagram... ...and that his smartphone is made by Fisher-Price... ...all we know is: he's called The Stig! All the best, Andrew. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Not exactly. He was F3 champion...back in those days most driver drove everything they got their hands on. Though in '91 he was mostly doing sports cars, I don't think we can class him as a pure sports car racer that made a move to F1. Brendon Hartley got his go in F3/F3.5 but made the switch to sports cars a few years back, not doing any OW stuff. If he came to F1 today I would class that as a move from sports cars.
Well, we still have Kimi and Botas playing a duet sometimes, and blue-eyes boy Verstappen isn't adverse to re-arranging the scenery either ...
