Who are you more impressed with?
Thank you for your enlightening contribution. If it makes no sense, then why waste your precious time responding to it?
In the context of F1 Rossi has not impressed me at all. MS has, hence he gets my vote. Simple as that. I think you're actually doing your hero Rossi a diservice with this poll. He stands no chance on winning this on a F1 site, let alone a Ferrari site.
Michael for me. I am not that much into GP bikes - watch a couple races here and there. I think Rossi is dynamite and the best rider out there today. As far as F1 goes, Michael is in the top 5 all-time greats along with Nuvolari, Caracciola, Senna and Fangio. He is a legend and has stamped his presence onto F1. The mid90s and 2000s will be remembered as a Schumacher era. He has raised the bar in several ways: - Focus on physical fitness - Professionalism - Consistency of performance - Mental strength - Focus on details - Team development - no one has helped take a team that barely won in the few years before his arrival to a unpreccedented run of consecutive championships. Done that twice with Benetton and Ferrari Rossi's talent is incredible and the fact he changed teams and still won back to back championships is a clear indication of his incredible abilities. But how does he compare to a Hailwood, Surtees, Agostini, Doohan? I don't know. Maybe someone more into bikes can help me.
I am not asking about Rossi's F1 abilities, I am asking about his MotoGP riding abilities. Riding is much more involving, physically. As Rossi said himself.........F1 is more of an engineer's sport, whereas motorcycle riding is much more rider oriented. It impresses me more when a rider can dominate, like Rossi, versus a driver in F1 dominating. Also, I feel that MotoGP bikes are much closer performance-wise than F1 cars are, so dominating on a bike is harder than dominating in a car.
Man, you are killing me today. If you don't care, then why respond to this thread? If you see no point in this thread, then you can just go ahead and delete it, since you are a moderator. Quite frankly, Andreas, I am very surprised at your contributions to this thread (or should I say, non-contribution). You usually have good insight and interesting things to say. All you have to say in this thread is how much you don't care about it. Don't respond to the thread, plain and simple. This whole discussion is becoming idiotic. Did someone pi$$ in your Corn Flakes this morning?
I don't want to rain on your parade, but I really don't see the point if it is not about Rossi's F1 experience. This is a Ferrari website after all and not a MotoGP website. I have a lot of heroes who impress me big time, but I would never bring them up here unless there is a connection with Ferrari/F1. I won't close your thread, it is your thing and there is nothing offensive about it. I'll shut up now.
Oh really? Then why is there a "Lamborghini" section? Why is there a "Maserati" section? Why is there a "Politics and Religion" section? You see the point I am making here? Racing is racing...............there's not only Ferrari and F1. I can appreciate many forms of racing, and can appreciate the kind of talent it takes to dominate one's respective series. Please do.
>>> I don't want to rain on your parade, but I really don't see the point if it is not about Rossi's F1 experience. This is a Ferrari website after all and not a MotoGP website. <<< Huh??? If I had a dime for every non Ferrari/F1 post on this site, I'd have my Modena paid off by now. BTW, my vote goes to Ronald Reagan.
I'll have a discussion with my fellow mods over whether Ferrarichat's racing section should include motorcycles or not. IMHO it shouldn't. I'll let you know.
If the Mods spent THIS much time and effort going after the real trolls, this site would be a much nicer place to visit. Jim
Pretty clear who the troll in THIS thread is. I vote for Schumacher. As someone metioned, he raised the bar on fitness in F1; in fact he SET the standard for fitness. Before him nobody imagined that it was possible to drive flat out every lap. And until you've raced in proper machinery, you have no idea what a difference it makes. I have beaten competitors by being able to push hard at the end of a lousy 14 lap kart race when they were tired. Mrs Dubai used to tease me: "I don't know why you're so tired; all you do is sit there and steer!" Then she did a race in a little kiddie kart. Now she knows. Rossi has made an impressive record for himself. I am in no position to judge his accomplishments. For one thing I am absolute rubbish on two wheels. For another, I find motorcycle races just too distressing to watch. OUCH!
I don't understand the context of the poll, do you mean impressed with with what they have done in thier respective sports or when they swap rides?
Last time I checked, this section was called "Racing & Tracking". Hmmmmm, let's scroll down the 1st page of the "Racing & Tracking" section, and see which threads have nothing to do with Ferrari and F1, so we can maybe delete them; Help me with a driver name Telephoto Lens Recommendation MotoGP Mugello - ** SPOILER ** Marco Andretti NASCAR vs. Open Wheel? (Maybe if it said F1 instead of "open wheel"?) Villeneuve - The Album! Le Mans 2006......anyone???? MARCO ANDRETTI - DANICA PATRICK Photo Event Codes Helmet Size lucas big stack Yeah, you let me know what you and your fellow mods conclude. Then I'll decide whether I want to continue being a member of this website.
All the examples pertain to car racing, not to motorcycle racing. Ferrari manufacturers cars, not motorcycles.
KIZDAN, I apologize, it does make sense - after I thought about it, and BEFORE I saw other responses here. I don't know Rossi's entire accomplishments, so I cannot 'judge' him. I was thinking of Rossi purely in the F1 context, I was mistaken. If your poll would have had the words 'in their respective series', all of this could have been avoided. Again, I apologize.
