Ahhh ! That does it, I’ll have to go back over 5 years of posts for any of it to make sense, I honestly didn’t pick that [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Sheesh!, I have a question, how do you “tweak” the ride hight ? Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Yes many Rolls-Royce,Bentley cars exported to the States which were coachbuilt cars were RHD,I think he had this car in the UK when filming The Wreck of the Mary Deare a great movie .
The ride height is adjustable front and rear by fitting shims under the springs. It is checked with the self levelling suspension discharged. I checked the heights a few years back before I pulled the springs out to do some suspension work, thankfully the ride height was correct. In this case, the control rods for the self levelling rear suspension during re-assembly went back in a slightly different position. Once the engine was started and the self levelling was system pressurised, the result was a rear ride height 7mm too high. Rear ride height on a Silver Shadow is absolutely critical because any untoward angularity between the trunnions at the differential end and the universal joints at the rear hubs results in a vibration under hard acceleration from about 40 to 130 km/h.
What's rubbish is the goons that worked on them previously. The journey is similar to your Mondial. And what makes it worse, is we both bought good cars to start with. Once sorted these 1970s and 1980s OHOSs are a delight to me. I love to pile the miles on a well sorted example. IMO the work involved to get any example to that stage is 60% correcting the cheap skate half arssed band aid repairs from the previous owners and mechanics, 30% just fair wear and tear with a maintenance component and 10% bitching about it on FerrariChat.
I know. Your Shadow is awesome, just **** stirring. Self proclaimed enthusiasts whom cheap out on maintaining their classic cars are annoying as are mechanics whom couldn't be bothered to do things right the first time

NOPE strong history -So many WOs are story cars, new Chassis, chopped chassis, fresh body, new motor, different gearbox, different diff. A total minefield, full of old shonks drinking cheap red wine, trying to solve world problems.
