Modern manual, and if it's too stiff change springs and shockers, also a car he can carry a spare in. Having said a manual ,I'd be buying a paddle shift car

Nil I suspect. In fact even a spacesaver can be hard to find. Have a look at a new Rangerover,proper 4wd supposed to go anywhere......
