He has his work cut out for him, but I'm sure he will have fun. :D

I love finding aircon leaks and fixing them. Let us know what happens re!

LOL, would have been a tiny fraction on what I spent getting that car fettled; no, I just really dislike airconditioning - avoid it all costs. Home aircon is only turned on to ‘dry’ when I go out sometimes. Otherwise, all windows and doors open and lovely sea breeze!

But was it working when you bought it? I know people just pull them out rather than repair them. I get that. I just like everything working as it should. You guys don’t have to cope with traffic congestion up there, it can be really uncomfortable on a hot summer day or even worse, stuck in a traffic jam in a tunnel and having to breathe truck fumes. :)

Rubbish its people being cheap and destroying the value and condition of a car .A car that has that done to it , what else is wrong I always say and walk away quick.

There is a certain satisfaction in having everything in a classic car working as it was from new.
Being the person that gets it to that point is enormously gratifying and rewarding.
You had so much fun with the 928. You’ve got the bug now.

    Thank you.

I've met AJ, but I was too overwhelmed to think of taking a photo. It was a memorable occasion none the less.

Yes, it is so nice to drive a car as it was when new.

Stuff not working spoils the entire experience.

100% I’ve said it before but your thread on sorting the 456 inspired me to buy a car (928) and sort it. Now I have you to ****ing blame on ordering $2k worth of A/C stuff last night. This morning, I looked up how to get the evap unit out and replace it and shat myself :D :D :D

Cooooool, link? I’ll look it up. so far doesn’t seem all that bad, evap unit on a Mondial drops out from under the dash. I’ll probably need some help to unbolt it as my dodgy neck might not cope

Actually, putting it back is even harder. I sort of went down the rabbit hole a bit - I'll see if I can dig it up...

Have no idea - didn't even try it !
I must say, in my X1-9 in HK I did use the aircon exactly as you mentioned - in the tunnels. I'm lucky the 308 virtually never has to deal with those situations (it has always lived in Coolum, even when I was working in Bris).
About the only 'disappointment' with the 308 is that in winter, whereas you could drive the X1/9 with the heater on and roof off and get just enough fresh air over the top to avoid stuffiness and I though the 308 would be just the same, but it no - dumps cold air straight onto the top of your hands on the steering wheel...

Shakes head ..That is the 1st time in all my years of reading or hearing about an owner or a mechanic stripping a car of its AC compressor...very odd..

I often use as do MOST my AC to clear condensation of the glass, you would only not repair the AC unit for one reason:rolleyes:

I guess to clear the screen condensation you always do a Moffat !

Actually I was given, some years ago, 2 very nice pairs of driving gloves but since I don't have timber steering wheels, they're rarely used... wouldn't be seen dead in those!
