All the lefty woke who have hijacked the Aboriginal issues, wonder how many get off their backsides and either help as a person in these towns or donate financial help? Few I would suggest.
Agreed. I have no issue with the 40,000 figure. The rest just smacks of activists trying to outdo each other and inventing a “new truth”. Out of nowhere yesterday we were told 65,000. How long until that becomes the “accepted” figure, and then how long again until it becomes 70,000? It’s ridiculous and typical of what passes for facts these days. No evidence required.
Well that is because people are too lazy or stupid to check facts for themselves, or analyse logically where those facts came from.
Like what exactly? Burn the bush to make the animals run out so they can club them to death and eat them? They were at best Stone Age people back then and did what was needed to survive[/QUOTE] Like not building in flood prone valleys or floodplains; like burning off before summer to avoid firestorms; like not overfishing any one spot; like killing only what they needed ; like sitting under a tree to keep cool; like trading stuff between districts. The first settlers were basically starving to death because the couldn’t grow English crops around Sydney Cove, but wouldn’t deign to eat what the aboriginals ate (except the rock oysters which they virtually decimated). Read David Hill’s “The True Story of the First Fleet” - incredibly badly written and boring book BUT includes all the historical documents to back up the claims.

So let's move on from all the successes of the last 40,000- 70,000 years. WHAT needs to happen in the rural towns were violence, rape, drugs, drinking, lack of health care/education? Discuss. FFS lets not have a history lesson on the last 65,000 years .
Unlike many on here, both my family sides were early settlers, one side pioneers in Gippsland (Elephant ones) another side NSW, and latter on FBQ as cane growers. There are not many favorable stories from the old family members re the local tribes ..
I think you should remodel your period home in the Aboriginal style. As you know they were prolific builders
From an elder from APY lands Karen and another on Dampier peninsula. Sea levels rose and cut off Australia, so no new arrivals. There are numerous cave painting sites, dated older, where the locals will tell you that the art is not connected to their culture, that different cultures lived on the country at different times. Mungo man is homosapiens, that doesn't make him the same culture. Re Dutch or French, you completely miss my point. Look at the countries they colonised and the outcomes achieved. Australia is massively better off due to British rule. Calling colonialism abhorrent displays your shallow thinking. Human civilization has always been about expansion, progress and slowly improving lives for populations. As for early Americans, are you aware of the routine massacres commited in inter-tribal warfare? How did the Aztecs become the dominant civilization in central America? etc, etc.
Well we ALL know what would have happened if the Dutch or the French had been 1st before Te Brits. Colonialism I'm thinking what a better city HK was before the CCP took over after the lease expired .
No,leanto's,a bit like this but not as complicated........ https://www.masterclass.com/articles/lean-to-shelter
