Whatever side of the fence you sit on, it would be readily apparent that something that was “meant to bring us together” is in fact having the complete opposite effect. Well done albo.

Well if the aborigines stood up and said "we aren't after money and will put THAT into the constitution" then I think we could all agree to acknowledge them in the constitution and it would bring us together BUT the city "abos" are after a luxury life at our expense and hard work.

And I agree with your statement, we are more divided than ever and this is Australia mirroring the US style of politics , ..... not a good look

Years ago we used to supply plumbing materials for housing commission building new houses for the aboriginal communities up north.
This was a street of brand new houses, within months, the copper water tubing had been ripped from the house as well as all the wiring and sold.
When we visited, every window and wall had been smashed and as far a you could throw an empty beer can from inside the house via any of the broken windows was a alloy moat around the house.
There was a massive hole in the floor where a fire had been lit. Every house!
The left media at the time filmed the result and pronounced "the terrible squalid conditions" and forgot to say .... self inflicted.
When I went to the NT namely Gove, we had to go to one of the islands in Arnhem bay can't remember which one, anyway, when we went ashore it was abandoned, a paradise like you couldn't believe, the bloke I was with has lived in that area for 20 years and told me how they had spent over 2 million building the place, runway, orchid, water tanks and tower, lovely house etc.
As we approached the house, once again, all the windows were smashed front door torn off, usual holes kicked in the walls, and just as I thought what a disgraceful mess , the best was yet to come.
The toilet pan, still connected to the cistern was thrown down the back steps and the words WTF had just left my lips when John said, don't go in the bathroom, and of course I did.
I've been on the tools for many years and in my earlier days, been armpit deep in other peoples sh 1 t, at that level I can tell you, we are all the same. But when you are greeted with a bath full of human excrement because some muppet has torn the dunny out, and for some insane reason decided that an open bath is the best receptacle to crap inside a house. What human brain thinks that is OK.

That's why they don't want a traditional house - too easy to destroy. In saying that, I have met many good indiginous people around Central Australia who cared for their things. Of course, they were almost all products of that dreadful missionary system that forced them to turn up to school, learn to read and write, get a job and respect others. Like it or not, there is a clear dividing line between literate and illiterate and that is the end of the missionary system.

Like all on here who voted in our inhouse poll:D I'll vote NO, I do want like ALL to see those in need cared for, I'm a firm believer that you do NOT change a Constitution unless it's a Federal /State Govt issue over tax/funding /collection or the vote for a Monarch or Repulic.

My questions to the YES voters include and one NEVER gets a correct reply is?

Do you remember ADC/ATSIC and the setup, finance, and what happened?

Do you understand the HUGE differences between mainland Aboriginals and Torres Strait people?

Will those in need be helped by the change in the Constitution?

    AND

Apart from voting what other way will you help? Is it financial, time, or giving up bedrooms on your own property?
Provide food, go out to the areas affected, and help rather than sitting at home?
Or perhaps leave a % of your estate to an Aboriginal cause?

Ticking a YES box is easy and of course, let's NOT forget "BUT I don't want them living near my comfortable lifestyle "

Yep, the pathetic rent-a-crowd with NFI.

So the FQ I had the discussion with yesterday re The Voice with her YES T/shirt was Austrian ...interesting where the Austrian's loyalty stood from 1938 to the end of 1945?

She was raving on about the humanitarian needs of The First Nation People, having been in Australia 20 years NFI about ADC/ATSIC or never BEEN to the outback.!

OR NFI about the difference between Aboriginal and Torres strait people.

Look at Your own Country of birth history 1st before opening your mouth on local issues, and a real good look at 1938-1945.

I've seen that ****e with my own eyes. As a teenager and in my early 20s I saw that in outback NSW (Brewarina, Louth etc) and inland from Townsville). Heartbreaking. I just couldn't understand how people given FREE housing by the long suffering Australian tax payers could do that. Then I started to understand easy come, easy go. Why bother working? Why bother respecting? The tax payers will just deliver more. A $100,000,000 a DAY? Make it $200,000,000 a DAY.

    Yep, insane isn’t it? :(

I think I mentioned this here earlier this year, the Government is actually starting to knock down all the local destroyed commission houses around town.

They have knocked down over 20 of them now, maybe another 10 boarded up that I can see just in my travels around town.

I talked to a Real Estate agent mate a few months ago, he said he talked to a fella from Government housing in regards to this and he was told that the Government was quoted from $200k to $400k each house to renovate them or $700k to build a new house lol

Not feasible by any means, so they just knocked them all down and are trying to sell the blocks of land now for $30k each

I said to my mate, sounds like the typical add an extra zero to everything when quoting a job for the Government and he said yep.

Cheapest quotes were from builders down south to come in and fully renovate these homes at around $200k each.

Obscene money for a new kitchen, bathroom, paint, windows and carpets etc

These aren’t massive mansions, these are small 3 bedroom zincanneal houses which would cost way less than $200k each to renovate.

My supervisor, his son is a local builder and he was one of the ones that quoted near $400k each house.

He’s booked out for nearly 2 years because he’s got that much work on, but he threw out a ridiculous number to do it but they didn’t bite.

He said he could Reno each house for under $100k each no problem.

Government had the last laugh when they told them all to **** off and knocked them all down lol

The locals have now been living in the river bed, some did anyway.

I had to go and get some car parts today and drove past them and one of my girls asked me why they are all living down along the river bed and I told them all those houses that were knocked down and boarded up, that was their homes but they destroyed them because they are idiots and now they have to sit outside in the heat and the cold.

I’ll see if I can find a dash cam pic and post it up from this morning to show you how they live.
