I guess this doesn't count, but I was there in summer of 2004 when all they had was a sign out front and lots of drywall / construction going on inside. Seeing it from a block away, we got a bit excited. Getting closer, we were a bit let down.

On the other hand, it's just down a block or two from Mercedes of Manhattan (Park & 59th), which is in a recently restored showroom designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. This showroom was originally developed for Max Hoffman back in the '50s, I believe. Hoffman was one of the original importers of German sports cars to the US, including Mercedes, BMW, and Porsche, as well as other marques such as Aston Martin and Jaguar. As German racing cars grew in popularity, Hoffman channeled American requests to the German manufacturers, who responded with vehicles responsive to these requests, including the 300SL gullwing. He also arranged the first showing of the VW beetle in the US.

If you're in the area, it's worth the block-or-two hike north to see the Mercedes showroom. When I was there, they had a Maybach on the floor, as well as the current run of Mercedes.

I am in NYC right now for a trading expo, so I will stop by and see what it is all about tomorrow before I depart back to New Orleans!

I've been by there when I'm in NYC, not much to write home about. Very understated(plain) look to the place. The Collection in Miami or Symbolic in California much more "ambiance". And as for Exoticar Model Company, the same merchandise now for at least 6 months, and I'm in NYC every month.

Not very impressive I have been there 3 times. I was there Friday and they had a Red 575. a TDF Blue 612 and a Quattroporte. They said they will have a 430 after the auto show (late March early April) Big disappointment. And don't think about bringing a camera. Big sign on the door saying "No pictures allowed"
