They seem impossible to remove. What's the trick?
Talked to Dave and he was helpful as always. How would I feel about myself if I had to rely on a mechanic???
I asked the same question abut my engine out...Long extensions and some creativity. A knife works better...and new hoses later... What did Dave have to say?
Loosen hoses on one end. When you lift the chassis off the engine craddle the hose come right off. Installation it the reverse. Zero force or bad words needed.
A 3/4" x 3/4" x 2' piece of maple pushing from the back of the car while standing where the exhaust was did trick. This taking the engine out is harder than I thought it would be. I spend much of my time just staring at the car because even the best DIY I found is somewhat vague when describing the parts and steps.
seems thats the trick to every repair lol.... I look at everything I do as a challenge and keep grinding until I find the answer
I meant are you doing it yourself? If so good on you. Post some pics along the way please. You have a 4 post lift and im interested in seeing how you do it. Thanks c
I am. My plan is to drop the engine myself then bring a friend over who knows what he's doing to change the belts, time the cams and troubleshoot everything else. I have a friend who's a former Lambo tech and trust him with this. I have at least 100 pictures so far but have spent my time working and not posting. The engine isn't quite out yet. I'll post when I have a chance.
I do have close up pictures so far of every single joint and fitting and screw that's needed to be undone so it would make a good supplement to an instruction like "disconnect the vapor recovery hose". My first thought when reading some of the steps is where the hell is that?
I loosened the upper clamps on the body side of the hoses and the hoses just slid off as you raised the car with the hoist. When it came to re-assembly, I installed the water hoses on the motor (clamps slack) side and lowered the body slowly towards the motor.....when the hose and pipe were about to connect I reached in and lined up all the hoses and then continued to lower the body towards the motor. No issues.
I'm using a hoist and the motor was on a ground level dolly.....heres one of my engine outs: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/348-355-sponsored-bradan/234071-355-engine-out-4-post-hoist-safe-way-pictures.html
Can't understand why. The hoses slid off and slid back on with no issues. But I was controlling the hoist speed....very slowly.... a mm at a time.
