    1989 national champs
here is the orange bowl championship ring since the national champs ring is in safe keeping.
please excuse the camera phone shots
they were the times. you can hate miami all you want, sometimes i do, but you cant deny that the 1987-1989 wasnt one of the best of all time. just look at the roster.

here is one of my many sideline passes, one of the only ones i actually saved

i cant stand being in the stands, i would rather watch it at home on the tv

this was a great game to go to, the atmoshere in the locker room at halftime was almost somber, then the atmosphere in the locker room after our dramatic, overtime win was just unreal. i love going to the UM vs. FSU games at the orange bowl because everytime i go the FSU kicker finds some way to ***k up a kick. this is anout 4 games total including 2 of the infamous "wide right" games.

right after two hurricanes Frances then Ivan. two in 8 days

Yes, I was in school at University of Miami from 1985 - 1990 when we only lost once at home (the first game of the 85 season to University of Florida). The football program was hated nationally, but I think back to the great games, and the unbelievable comebacks, it was one of the major positives about college. The School of Architecture was right next to the dorm where most of the football players were, so I saw them lots of times. I had one business marketing class around 1988 with at least 10 players that ll went on to play in the NFL.

Wow... It amazes me how people with a chance at a career, even if not in the majors, so often throw it away on a life of petty (and sometimes not so petty) crime. If football wasn't going to be ultimately successful for him, I'm sure he could have done other things (hell, coach some kids or something!). And this applies not only to sports... Sad...

Yeah, but we remember Bear, regardless of who was there before him or what they accomplished.

Just as we remember Knute Rockne at ND, Paterno at PSU, and Vince Lombardi at Green Bay, certain coaches just stick in your mind.

Miami has a revolving door of coaches, so do most schools nowadays, how many have been at Alabama since the Bear ? I can't name them all.

    Hey Doc!

I am not surprised. While players *AT* Tech have been involved in few run in's with authority, Ex-Tech players have been involved in many shady activities. The list is pretty long with the ex-Tech, Washington Redskin running back Timmy Smith sort of leading the pack of the infamous ex-Red Raiders.

I like Mike Leach as a coach, but as a mentor and a model for young men.....not so much. Spike Dykes probably molded better men......just not better football teams.

It seems like producing better men is not as important as winning football games anymore.

Ok....I am stepping off the soapbox now.

Nope. Bobby coached well in a TERRIBLE conference. The ACC is no joke now, but it wasn't anything to brag about when he started. I LOVE Bowden Sr., but I don't think he could have done in the SEC what he did in the ACC in the 80s and 90s. Would I have liked to have seen that though? You're damn right, so long as he changed his recruiting habits a bit...

I suppose that is the best answer for this type of question.
