Why an engine out service every 15K miles?

Dear Ferraristi,

Ok, I will toss in my 2 cents. I do have a friend in Sarasota who bought an 83 308 in great condition. Two months later, one cam belt broke and it let the pistons hit the valves. I don't know what the cost was to repair, but we all know it was a lot. The " looks new " is not a safe bet.

Crunch the numbers....cost of belt service....cost of engine repair.
