I had my 348 for several years and never had any issues other than the slow down light needing to be debugged and a leak in the a/c which I think is typical of any 10+ year old car. Otherwise ran great with no issues. Like most purchases just look for service records and a pre inspection to help insure a better ownership experience.

The 348 is still a very common rental car in Vegas, they've had those for years, so that alone should speak for the reliability factor. I should know, I rented them a few times before taking the jump, and 4 348's later, I am still convinced it is a bulletproof car.

Wow.... I'm curious, why the changes? Fancied different colours, or was it a progression through the various body styles? Berlinetta -> Targa -> Spyder -> SS or Challenge?

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Vince ...... the 355 is not 'full of electronics' as many 348 owners suppose. The 355 only has active 2-setting suspension, power steering, power top and bypass-valve over what the 348 has ......... but I will not hold that against you ....... whatever car you have ..... it will always be an honor to help you with any upgrades ..... :)

    355 all the way .......... :D :D :D !!!!!!

+1000 any issues that 'may' arise can be properly addressed. After that ....... one will have one of the greatest automotive experiences since the dawn of time .............

    lol ............ :p

    More reliable than other Ferrari's???????

I know you don't want the long list of things I have had to fix on my car. My 348 has been the least reliable car I have ever owned, ever, and I'm STILL fixing crap on it.

    Most reliable Ferrari, puleeeze.

Two extremes in opposite directions. Not all 355s will need guides and not all 348s have minimal service as yours. See the many 348 threads with major engine/gearbox problems ....... ;)

....... well one has to start the car once in a while Chris  .................... BTW ...... I am still waiting to cruise that smart car up and down the 405 ......... :)

Is this a PR campaign? Are you getting ready to put your 348 up for sale? LOL

The REAL skinny on the 348 is already out of the bag ---- you'd have to have been living in a cave for the last 15 years not to have heard (or read) any warnings about the 348's problems.....

On the other hand, if you are a prior Lambo owner or fanatic, the 348 will be a breath of fresh air for you :)

Are you saying cave dwellers have poor access to modern forms of communication, or that they are most likely illiterate and deaf?

    All the best,

I have done the research ... I'd put the number of reported issues on this site for a 348 up against any other ferrari out there ... and no ... not selling the 348, it is the bext ferrari I have owned.

Well don't try putting it up against a 328 or even worse a 550.

    Oh!!!!

    You'll get yours lardass. LOL!

Actually I think the real problem was the previous owner. But even then, I have had things break that no amount of normal maintenance or ppi would have ever found.

Yeah...I like poking you with a stick. One day you are going to put me to sleep!

If we make a racecar out of your car it will be reliable.

Point taken, the 348 linage cars were reliable cars ... just did not have the power I needed. Add the fact that the 348 spider is one of the first convertibles made in years ... and you got a real winner!

I've only had a coiupel of breakdowns so far.

Overheating problem caused by a lump of metal jamming the thermostat. Cost £53 plus labour charge to find fault and replace.

Alternator stopped working. Cost £105 to upgrade/repair.

The biggest problem is the wear and tear. Mines one of the last 348's made and it's 15 years old, so things will need replacing as time goes on.

Yesterday I took it out for a drive. First time I've driven it for 3 weeks and it didn't feel or sound good until 20 minutes later. They just need to be driven regularly.

oh yeah... some idiot in an MPV last night did a last minute lane change and nearly took off my front end. Missed me by an inch. Probably a 355 fan/owner. :D
