I have a friend who is looking to buy a Diablo 6.0 and as we were looking at cars from different sources we noticed that most Diablos were the same price range as Murcis even though the Murci is a better built car. And these were none 6.0 cars

Supply and demand. There were many more Murcielagos produced than 6.0 Diablos.

    some reasons but to shortly:

    -diablo is rarer
-diablo is a classic or almost

the murcie is a great car, well built, etc... but it lost some of the old cars appeal (imo)

p.s. the 6.0 is a rare machine and is one of the best diablo ever

I know 6.0 is rare but I was referring to the non 6.0 models. The older one are commanding well over 100k.

outside of the 6.0, the early models had interior that are not impressive at all. For such an expensive car, one would except top quality

"Quality" is a somewhat subjective term and frequently has nothing to do with price.

Don't forget the numbers of cars produced (more Murci), economic climate (fewer buyers), and the fact that Diablos are no longer being produced(heading towards becoming classics).

    Dear Lamborghinisti,

Bawhaahahha....I just had to write! :D

The Diablo is the most extroverted over the top design of any car in the world. It screams sex appeal and has no compromises on style....it compromises everywhere else though. :)

The Murci, while a waaaay better car in terms of reliability, speed, and all things technically speaking....it just lost that sexy Italian flair.

I've tried to love the murci...really I have, but just find it a fat cow. The Diablo is all scoops, vents and angles....and it has a wing ! The interior is the most stylish I've ever seen with the mix of carbon fiber and leather. It doesn't look like a "faddish" video game like a F430 or an Enzo. It really looks like it was hand-sewn by a bunch of fat Italian ladies with mustaches...not injection molded plastic like today...leather?....really !?!

With a Diablo, you will have to put up with insane maintenance costs, Italian engineering at it's best, and quirky things that Italians only seem to understand.
BUT, when you get behind the wheel, look over at the 22 year old chick in the micro skirt next to you and floor it ( the Diablo :) ) ...it's worth it!!

I'm a very open minded person that will always accept new designs. I grew up with the Countach and dreamed of owning one....but when the Diablo came out.....OMG, I just fell over!! I just can't say the same for anything else since.

On the Ferrari side, I haven't liked anything past the F355 and F50.

I guess "over the top" is a little more subdued today...but not Me !

    yes and no

early 2wd cars are NOT over 100k$ (they do sell normaly for under 100k$)
the 5.7 VT are also slightly under 100k$ (not the 1999 cars)

all the other models are somewhat "special" models (some more, some less) and are not available in big numbers (as an example 150 SE30, 80 GT, a bit over 400 roadsters, may be 200 SV...)

as for interiors: the 6.0 (and GT) interior is sweet (much nicer and "special" than a murcie interior imo), the early 2wd cars have an ugly big dash but the rest is not bad

all the other variants have nice looking interiors, not so beautiful as the 6.0s but not bad at all (i happen to love the spoiled alcantara interiors on SV and euro SE30)

2wd and VT are usually priced below Murcie. Other models are priced high for the reasons mentioned, with in particular demand-supply. In the future, with relatively a lot of Murcielago's built compared to the Diablo, I see Murcie prices dropping below all Diablo models with maybe the exception of limited edtion Murcies like the SV.

ok... low production number I get.

early model interiors SUCK!!! looks as bad as the replicars

...the look is outrageous but thats Lambo for ya

So why aren't Countach commanding big money like Diablos?

    depend on models

you can buy only some variants under 100k:

    F.I. 5000S
    F.I. QV
and may be the average 5000S carbed (i do think the best ones are around and over 100k$)

p.s. your 348 must have a hell of a nice interior to hate so much early diablo's one

considering it cost half the price , yes!.

don't get me wrong Diablos are beautiful, I expected more for the price.

Audi seems like they take pride in Lambo interior now and they are on point

Correct, but ONLY 79 GT cars..and only 78 made it to public owners. 1 is at the museum and 1 was totaled upon delivery release and testing for car magazines...which unfortuantely resulted in the death of the factory rep driving and the customer he was showing the car to.

    Of the 150 94 SE30 cars...only 25 for the USA.

    Dear Shamilisti!

    Great minds think alike! :)

Diablo = Quintessential midengine sports car exotic look that succeeded to higher the already stratospheric level accomplished by the Countach!!!

The Murciélago is nice and for sure very balanced and elegant, but not over the top as you wrote!

Nowadays, unfortunately, there seems to be a design trend that just can't deviate from ''fat cowiness'' !!! :(

Except from its ( fugly ) at the power of ( aleph 1 ) dashboard, early Diablos interiors were nice but I must admit that I love the Countach ones; so different and retro modern at the same time. Oh! My favorite Diablo steering wheel is the SE30 model, the previous ones were IMHO too tame and somewhat shockingly anonymous for such a spectacular car.

    Cheers!

    Good points.

Actually it is a perfect time to buy a Diablo because prices will rise in the near future ...

I am not totally seduced by the wavy clam shell style of Diablo 6.0 dashboard, it departs from the original design philosophy ( it would make a better fit with the Orochi Japanese car IMHO ).

It is just matter of time.

Actually I can see a trend where Countach prices are appreciating and within ten to fifteen years will be significantly higher than those of Diablos.

The F355 is certainly a very very nice design but in this picture, which car does stand out? :)

    Hi DonJuan348,

ZR Auto in Calgary has in inventory a very nice red '91 Euro Diablo which has IMVHO a super nice interior. Note how a 94+ dashpod makes such a gigantic improvement. I am also never tired of tan/black interior combo, especially with contrasting black carpets* ( I also love tan carpets BUT they must match perfectly the tan leather ... ).

Take also a look at the door interior trim, very classy ...

    Enjoy!

Sorry I couldn't load pictures from their site. Maybe I miss something ...

*Here is my tan/black interior combo of my Mondial:

Do you guys think that being less desirable, will the 02 - 03 Murci's fall below or even with the early Diablo's? I.E. $80k range.

IMO... all the price of art, in this car Auto art, it all comes down to beauty and rarity... no matter we are talking about the Enzo VS McLaren F1, F40 VS 288GTO... or Diablo VS Murcis... beauty and rarity... Technology has very little to do with value. In the case of the Diablo VS Murcis, at the present time is just the beginning. In near future, we will see the Diablo value pass the Murcis... same way as the Ferrari 512TR VS 550...

All of the above I heartily concur with,I'm a biased diablo owner :),apart from the 'hand-sewn by a bunch of fat Italian ladies with mustaches'.

I have met the fair ladies in the factory and they are actually very pretty.

I'm sure you would approve, some serious bella donna's.

    best regards

I disagree. true the interior may not be something beautiful to look at (pre 6.0),but at least it had an exotic look and feel to it. The murci may be nice quality but there is nothing exotic about it, just audi interior. The 6.0 is hands down the best looking interior in any lambo ever.
