Why are so many vintage race Ferraris RHD?

    Many of the vintage Ferrari race cars that I see are right hand drive? Is there a particular reason for that? And also, why are many of them set up with shifters at the driver's right hand, instead of the in the center of the car? Sorry if this is a dumb question.

    Most race Ferrari's are RHD because most of the corners on circuit's are right corners. So with a RHD-car it's easier to drive at the inside of the right corners, because you can better see how far you can go.

    Correct me if I'm wrong.

    You are correct, Tvrkevin. Try it in your own car on some deserted curves. (But be careful!)

    Correct, most races are driven anti-clockwise. Therefore most of the older racers had RHD. On some models (for example the 58 TR) clients could opt for a LHD configuration. As far as I know all factory race cars were RHD.

    Also puts the driver next to the wall and the team mgr. on pit stops for courses run "clockwise", rather than on the other side of the car.
