Does anyone know why the exhaust pipes are offset on 550 and 360 ?
To me it looks like a design misstake, something like:
-Eeh, Tony, you forgot that we should make rrom to fit the muffler here...!
Oups, si, si, no problema, we just a mova the pipes a little to the side ee...!?!

Curious to know if anyone have a good explaination to this.

Why not? They could of looked at the design and decided that it looked better to have the exhaust tips on the outside instead of centered.

I am not sure if this will be the reason but when the exhausts are hot the will expand and this allows for this expansion. If you look at your standard muffler in the centre with hood up you will see that when hot it will expand by about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch in length. Come to think of it so do I.

Do you mean why are they on either side of the car vs the middle or why are they different lengths? Which one?

    Cheers

Not sure about the 550, but the openings on the 360 mimic the rad openings in the front. The opening is too big to center the pipes. It would look like "Gee, another design flaw. Why did they make the opening that big?" This way, there is room for the tasteless to add a third pipe on each side.

Frari, too funny:"Come to think of it so do I."
