I had one of the last of the 1995 ZR-1s - #401 of the 448.

This is a greatly under-rated car, and is relatively inexpensive now - you can get a good one under $30K.

It is a shame that so many people wrapped them in plastic bags and never drove them.

I hope so, even the prototype looks much better than the sketch, but I guess these Jalopnik guys saw the car.

    Jalponik's story FWIW: http://jalopnik.com/5877484/2014-chevrolet-corvette-we-were-right?tag=2014-corvette

Their renderings and the new pics at roughly the same perspective...

Then the Corvette would drop in sales cause only old folks retiring would buy them.

Nah, I disagree. I think the Vette will be okay; might lose a few sales to the new top of the line Camaros and Mustangs for those looking for pure performance but otherwise it is basically in a class by itself..."cooler" than a pony car and less expensive than a Porsche or Nissan GTR.

Check these guys out before going with the tubular SR III chassis... I used his type construction by utilizing the OEM under cradles, though I used them front and rear, I also used new OEM rails from GM.. but I think these are really well engineered... also he offers from C4 to C6 based chassis depending on the look (nearly stock on wheel offsets utilizing the C4) to more aggresive positive offset & modernized rubber, brakes and wheel sizes by going to C6 based chassis... Also trans axle or rear differential options as well Really can build to what you want out of your car... http://www.streetshopinc.com/
