Maybe some do worry about resale vaue when they buy a car, I never have.

If you're a speculator, buy a car you think will go up in value and, if it does sell it.If you're an enthusiast, then buy the car you want and enjoy it, the hell with it's future value!

If future value is a criteria, then maybe the car shouldn't be purchased as you may be getting in a little over your head.

Don't look at a car you bought for pleasure driving as an investment; cause it aint! :)

I was concerned about resale.. because we usually all buy on the limit of what we can afford, and the money counts. Then after a couple of years we laugh that we worried about the money because its paid for and small change now anyway.

I still drive my car when i want, though even that is quite sparingly. It suits me because i savour that 'new car' feel.
I dont want the car to get cosmetically ratty or mechanically loose and spoil my experience each time i get in. I don't think that the best maintenance can combat high KM enough, to keep it feeling "showroom new"
Also i will get too used to it and begin to focus on the cars flaws rather than its fine points.

So 2000 km odd a year seems to suit me well. Stuff resale !

    Good post, and very true.

Exactly the point I was trying to make.

If you buy a car thinking of it as an investment, then don't drive it.

If you bought it to drive it, then drive it and don't worry about any financial aspects.
