Why does the F355 sound so much more F1ish than the 360 or say 430?

Sorry - for those without a Thermodynamic background, the heat addition from adding increasing amounts of fuel to increasing amounts of air is what creates increasing amounts of horsepower. When you crack the throttle in neutral and the engine easily races to 8000 RPM you are only using a small amount of fuel and air to do it. Under load, the air valve is full open for maximum air supply and the fuel is being added at the maximum rate to get the most possible heat addition which equals horsepower. Flow and Sonic velocities in the exhaust change with the increased temperature of the exhust gasses and hence the apparent "note" change under load.
