Why does UK get 4 years factory warranty and USA only 3 years?

    Is it 4 years all over Europe? What's the reason behind this discrepancy?

    In France it's still 3 years AFAIK.
    It seems in the UK it's been 4 years for some time (a quick search found mentions of 4-year warranty as far as 2014) but I do not know why (it does not seem to be a regulatory consequence since other manufacturers in the UK only propose 3 years).

    Because of historic reliability issue!! and simply if you don't ask you don't get.
