Why don’t new models automatically have a thread for Owners/Real Buyers, and another for Spectators?

These are two separate groups of people, coming from different places, with different intentions. Let the owners talk about owner things, and let the peanut gallery throw words around and make their valuable opinions heard in another place, as Spectators.

At the very least everyone should identify owner buyer or non owner non buyer Spectator with all the toxic negativity here on Fchat towards everything Ferrari, so that the reader may Consider The Source, a basic rule of thumb for critical thinking.

This place is weird the way it is. Most are not here for Ferrari, just here for mudslinging. It ain’t really about Ferrari when everything is about how much you hate Ferrari. Turnabout and put the focus on the mudslingers, get banned.

At least if we have a commonsense way to differentiate who we are talking to and what their intentions are, to Buy/Drive or to Spectate/Opine, we can separate the two, and make Fchat a healthier place.

    /end rant

I have been here since 2012. I have no idea what you are talking about. This forum is by far the best source of Ferrari information that I have found, and I seldom encounter negativity. Are you one of those belligerent internet posters who provokes hostile responses, perhaps unintentionally?

What a pretentious post from an unsubscribed member who posts an average of 4 posts per month and never filled out their profile. Come to Silver or P&R if you really want your head to explode with extraneous commentary.

I see you posted this nonsense in the 12 cilindri forum also.

Funny thing is, there is not much "peanut gallery" banter on the car or tech specific forums, so you really are out of your lane here. I refuse to call potential owners spectators either, as we were all there once.

    Do better.

good idea as both topics are boring AF.... I quickly popped in there and almost died or boredom and senseless dribble... stay in the car forums where people talk about real things. Politics and religion are both fake/fantasy so stay in the non fiction sections...

and as for this guy posting about negativity etc, he obviously doesn't read ferrarichat -- I've been here since 2005 and have never seen negativity...

No need to do this at all. Come on this is an open dialogue. What were owners before they owned????

Right next to one's forum name it actually says whether or not you are an owner. Pretty simple really.

I’ve noticed that on only a few do that— I’m an owner and it doesn’t say owner next to my name and hasn’t for 20 years. No idea how some get that owner banner next to their name

I was told if you filled out the profile page with your ownership, it would post next to your forum name. But I cannot verify that.
Thought it was automatic. Maybe Rob Lay can enlighten us?

No, there are some hoops to jump through. I never really thought it was worth it myself. I asked years ago if I could just send proof of ownership (registration/insurance, etc.) and the answer was no.

This issue here is that dude apparently put a deposit on a 12 Cilindri and wants to separate himself above the destitute riff-raff that bought their Ferraris used.

Hoop jumping is something that I've never embraced, even when I was 40 years younger. Filling out home loan applications comes to mind.

The reason behind that is because we've had folks on here, well-established folks, who turned out to have fabricated everything about their ownership, including edited documents.

So the mighty hoop of, you know, actually *meeting* other people from here and showing them your car, was put in place.

But there's little advantage to having the owner tag, so no need to worry about the process.

    This thread is ridiculous.
    • Half the active users on FerrariChat are owners or former owners, the other half might be a future owner. Non owners can be the best users more knowledgable, helpful, and active than a **** that just buys the latest new Ferrari.
    • The Owner tag isn't driven by the site, it was driven by users who wanted it, I hate it. Only about 5% of FerrariChat Owners have the tag. We have proposed making it easier to show ownership, but the users consistently want to keep it the same. If you can't make the effort to meet 3 other FerrariChat users or 1 Sponsor/Mod, then you don't belong in the group in the first place.
    • Some of the users most critical of Ferrari are some of your best owner enthusiasts. They knew how great the company once was and might not care about the current public state of the company dealership games, no manuals, plastic cars with plastic problems like sticky parts, massive depreciation, cars you can't easily work on yourself, and ridiculous parts prices. Something to be said for when Ferrari was about being a Tifosi and not a shareholder.

Well that’s pretty damn pathetic and sad.

I don’t think that’s it. I’ve met several other members, been to FCA events, I’ll be at the annual experience this year, and some members have stayed at my place and worked on car with me. I just don’t want to bother them by asking them to verify me, and I think that’s a lot of people’s take.

When the Owners’ Forum opened, I never bothered with it. But a few years back, after one of the many recurring “why do I have to have users verify me” threads, I thought how hard could it be?

So I crafted a quick direct message to the Moderator in charge, and copied about a half dozen local users that I knew from various cars and coffee or track days. I was vetted and in later that afternoon.

Then that's your choice, it takes one 5 second PM. Just don't ***** about it then. You have wasted 100x more time bitching about it than it would take to do it.

Usually the honor system is pretty good and I gotta believe the number of bad actors would be much lower than actual owners. Maybe a simple VIN reporting or other similar objective info would be enough? I mean if someone goes to the trouble of forging ownership documents to simply participate in chat implies some sort of mental disorder (hopefully not many members) and maybe that's all they have in life to keep them going, unless they're doing it to try to con someone into buying their imaginary Ferrari. If it's the latter, the absence of an owner badge won't be an impediment to the con artist anyway.

I never once bitched or complained about it. I was just answering a question from another member.
I have thousands of posts about my car.The tag is not important to me
