Most car companies race on sunday to sell on monday. Enzo Ferrari always sold on friday in order to race on sunday. That is a radical difference in perspective and purpose that represents an attitude that some find appealing.

I am also betting you have never heard a Ferrari V12 with 6 weber carbs and velocity stacks screaming past 7500 rpm. Otherwise the "Why Ferrari?" question would be moot.

The allure of Ferrari is the complete package. Many people can not understand this, and trying to persuade them is useless.
Some cars can go as fast, some can corner as well, some can draw a larger crowds. However, none can put it all together into such a beatiful package.

 

Drive one or get a ride with someone who has one. I'm sure you'll find your answer there. What ever it is that makes these cars so special, transfers to you while driving one. I don't care who you are or what your financial status is, you'll feel like "The King of the World!", I hope you're lucky enough to find out. well, on the day i went by the dealer, he was out of Pacers...BUT, in the rear of the lot...

 

I don' own a Ferrari yet... but I seriously doubt I will own anything nicer than my current WRX before I buy one.

Why?

I have always wanted one... plus I can't get over the intoxicating sound of a Ferrari exaust note. I think the packaging that that sound comes in looks pretty nice as well.

Sure, I could buy a Pcar, Corvette or BMW M or Z series. But, why waste money on something that I don't really want?

 

Its somthing that very few other cars can create, some call it passion i call it awesome. think about it when some one mentions italy what comes to mind imediatly?, food then Ferrari! when a car is able to represent emotions they become somthing totally different than any other car.

 

Sometimes I think I should have picked a car from another company. But then again, as soon as you hear that Ferrari engine singing at 7,000rpm, you wonder how you could have even considered a different car.

These damn cars are a sickness I tell you, a sickness.

 

Theres just something about them when you get in, my previous Porsche was a lot faster than my Ferrari but its just not as passionate, theres a difference between a fast car and a Ferrari

This is a question I can only liken to why one admires a sunrise, or why one would gaze aimlessly at the ocean, or loose track of time watching a campfire, or what is it about your first child that causes you to stare at the child’s face for no apparent reason. To own a Ferrari is not just an experience, it is the essence of the spirit of the sports car. It is what all other sports cars aspire to be.....

 

You need to drive one.

They make incredible noises, look sensational and you feel like you're in a piece of history -- the most famed, no-compromises marque in the world.

As a brand, Ferrari is very evocative of racing and fast living. No SUVs, no wagons, no crossovers, no hybrids, no cupholder engineers, no folding rear seats, no pretense of practicality in a world where even Porsche and BMW spend half their time making trucks. Moreover, no has a clue what they cost. The air of mystery (and mythology) that surrounds any Ferrari is absent from every other carmaker. Even a Ferrari that is no longer fast, by modern standards, exudes this aura.

A Ferrari is a very naughty car with unequalled bloodlines.

 

Insanity has it privileges.

 

There are a lot of faster, cheaper cars you can buy, but they will never be Ferraris. The Ferrari was the only car I've driven where I truly didn't care about how fast it really was, I just enjoyed the intoxicating experience.
You MUST drive one. Then you'll never wonder why again.

 

it's a disease, once you've got it you can't shake it

I smashed mine 2 years ago and didn't have one for 18 months and was the most miserable git in that time, the smile returned 6 months ago and I take the 'injection' EVERYDAY

 

Actually my buying a Ferrari goes back a long way. When I was a kid I always wanted a Jaguar XKE. I finally had a chance to buy one, but it wasn't practical for me to get one at the time. I kicked myself for years after that for not getting the car. Later when I was in my twenties I wanted to get a Corvette. I ran across one on a car lot and had the money for it but didn't buy it for some reason or another. I think I was HEADED back to vietnam or something. Again, I kicked myself for years after that for not getting it. After I retired I ran across the deal to buy my 308. I had the money, and decided that I was not going to let this one get away. I'm glad I bought it. I love the sound, and the mystique that surrounds the car. Sometimes when I use it for errands and have to park it for a few minutes to go into a store it's not unusual to find a crowd of people around it when I come out. I enjoy talking to people about the car. The most asked question is: Is it real? That's followed by What year is it, how fast have you driven it, how many tickets have you gotten, How much horse power does it have, and how fast will it go, which is another thread for someone to start. I enjoy the heck out of this car. Is it practical? Well, it serves its purpose, which is not transportation. It's purpose is my personal entertainment.

I bought my first Ferrari last week - a mere 3.2 Mondial - but the experience has been amazing. I grew up as a kid in Italy in the 60's when Ferrari was really something new and special, and I have never forgotten the excitement. It's not like anything else - at least for me.

 

NO such thing as a mere Mondial: Mondials RULE!!
