The rear kinda reminds me of the Dodge Charger. And are those exhaust pipes big enough? Looks great though. Cant wait.

Since I first rode in a Skyline in 1992 in Helsinki (don't ask) I've been fascinated with them. I've been pining for an R34 Skyline for a long time -- I almost "went deep" with Moto Rex a few years back just before I moved to NY...

I actually got to drive one yesterday here in Tokyo. It was the first time. It took a bit to get used to the "steering wheel on the right" thing, but the car is really mean. I liken it to a cross between my RS4 and my old F355. The car has a lot of go across the range. Huge lag until 3200. Braking was crisp, as you'd expect, and squeaky as hell after pounding them on the Freeway and then coming in to Tokyo traffic. It felt very nimble for an AWD 4-seater, but in the best Ferrari way... it was a bit twitchy. Maybe the characteristics of the 355 I'm noticing are the similarities of the small-production build and sheer age... but it reminded me of the F355 in terms of fit & finish, control feel, steering rack, and other less-visceral components.

I for one cannot wait for this car to get here. If it's as big as I hope it will be, I'll have one in my garage.

Hmm very interesting, something I would probably LOVE to drive, sound like a true drivers car! I just think for the price and the US market, it will not be a big hit, and pretty rare indeed! Hope it looks cool like the prototype pics though

 

Something interesting is happening in the car game. The mainstream and the "new generation" keep getting further and further apart in terms of taste/editorial but one of the segments is growing in terms of audience and ad dollars and offerings while the other is stagnating... not yet contracting. (SEMA is bigger than NAIS. SEMA grows. NAIAS does not.)

Snowboarding was "big" for 10 years in my mind. It was important to me a LONG time ago. Now, it's a mainstream "thing" and no longer a sub-culture activity. It's bigger than the things that came before it.

Drifting is on a cable channel with 3 digits. NASCAR is on a cable channel with 1 digit. 3 years ago, it was nowhere.

Automobile is on every news stand. SCC is on every 5th news stand. 3 years ago, it was nowhere.

I think that the Skyline and strong "JDM" offerings in the US as well as rumoured factory support of FormulaD teams may be the thing that breaks the log jam of that new generation as it relates to the automotive media game.

I'm not saying that the Skyline is the be-all and end-all of the car world, but from a credibility of a market point of view it adds huge legitimacy to the "Import Tuner" crowd. That car will come in. It will be as hard to come by as the Z06 was a year ago. There will be a new icon after that, but lots of hopes rest on the Skyline...

I cannot wait until I'm the old person being encroached upon by the younger generation. It'll mean I did something right.

Ludmilla has the new skyline on order I've seen R32's, R33's, and even R34's in the US so I can't wait to see the new one over here!
